Description

Artist: Chuck Berry Title: After School Session Label/Number: Chess LP-1426 (M) Jacket condition: VG+ Record condition: VG Notes: This is one of those records that I sell occasionally that I classify as "rough but rare". The cover is in decent condition with some light ring wear and some seam and corner wear. Both the top and bottom seams are split and neatly taped for their entire lengths. The classic photo of Chuck on the front cover still looks really good though and the notes and title listings on the back show a little age yellowing but are still pretty nice. The labels are the original black and silver Chess versions and are in good shape with just a few light spindle marks. The vinyl has good gloss and about 80% of it probably qualifies for a VG+ grade. "Havana Moon" has a few scratches that cause a few light "ticks". The biggest problem area, however, is "No Money Down", the last cut on Side 1. It has a bad scratch that causes numerous skips. The remaining songs play well with very littel to distract from the classic early rock and roll cuts. Grading: Grading is usually only visual unless there are obvious problems that need to be checked out.   I did play this one as noted above. I use Goldmine standards with a VG++ added for items NOT QUITE up to M-. I try to be conservative and grade as though I were buying the record.  Mono (M) or Stereo (S) is noted after catalog number. Don't hesitate to e-mail questions.   Mailing and costs: Domestic shipping is via USPS, media mail. I do require delivery confirmation as a protection for both myself and the buyer. This is a cheaper alternative to requiring insurance on each package. Of course, insurance will still be optional at a buyer's request and expense. I also add $1.50 to cover the cost of a new custom record mailer and pads. Therefore, the total handling fees are $2.25--$1.50 for the mailers/pads and $.75 for delivery confirmation. Overseas shipping on purchases under $50.00 may be sent by USPS First Class Mail International but I will upgrade at the buyer's request. Orders for more than $50.00 will need to be by Priority Mail International. This provides added protection for both the buyer and for me. The price will be the actual shipping costs plus the $1.50 noted above for the mailer and pads.

I always mail in a poly sleeve with the record outside the jacket. If there's an original inner sleeve I also remove the record from that and put it in a plain sleeve for mailing. That way, there are no seam splits on either the jacket or the sleeve due to any handling in the mail.

As always, multiple purchases can be combined to save mailing costs.

Don't hesitate to check out my other items! Be sure to add me to your favorites list, too.
