Description
HonestDave is one of East Anglia's biggest sellers of good quality vinyl from the best era in pop music 1955 - 1971. My credentials can be checked with VIP Fairs if required. I try to sell only discs in the best possible condition, in relation to their age, and I use the respected Record Collector Magazine's Grading System (see the bottom of the page). 95% of my items will be in EXCELLENT condition with a very few, usually extremely rare, items being no lower than VERY GOOD. I am also a collector myself and therefore my judgement is very strict. See clause 4 below for more detail.
All records will have been cleaned and inspected under a bright light before being at least partially played on a good quality sound system. Please note that vinyl that has been stored unplayed for years is likely to have some minor background noise for the first few plays until remaining ingrained dirt is removed by the needle. You should alway wash old records in soap and fairly warm, (not hot!), water, rubbing the soap in steadily just with your fingers in the direction of the grooves, then drain off the excess water and soap and play once or twice whilst still wet!
DETAILS OF THE RECORD(s) OFFERED FOR SALE
Chubby Checker - Everything's Wrong. Cameo Parkway, P959, 1968
Towards the end of his singles career and whilst with Cameo Parkway records, that label reissued some of Chubby's much earlier material and moved him away from his outdated Twist recordings and into proper soul. It is from this period that his real rarities come - the track "At The Discotheque" is pure brilliance. This one, dating from 1962, but not issued here until six years later, contains "Everything's Wrong and Cu Ma La Bestay" - dance craze tracks and also rare at £40.00 MINT. It appears to be the American pressing of Cameo but with UK numbering so probably pressed here to the same design or imported just as it stands.
NOW FOR THE SMALL PRINT! CHECK THE UNDERLINING BELOW FOR THE FINE DETAIL OF THE DISC!
IF THE ITEM IS AN ALBUM THE CONDITION OF THE ORIGINAL FRONT COVER IS EXCELLENT; VERY GOOD; GOOD
IF THE ITEM IS AN ALBUM THE CONDITION OF THE ORIGINAL REAR COVER IS EXCELLENT; VERY GOOD; GOOD
THE CONDITION OF THE FRONT AND REAR VINYL IS: EXCELLENT; VERY GOOD; GOOD. SEE ADDITIONAL NOTES BELOW FOR ANY QUALIFYING REMARKS
IF THE ITEM IS A 45 RPM SINGLE OR A 33 RPM EP, IT IS SUPPLIED IN: AN ORIGINAL COMPANY SLEEVE WHICH MAY BE IN EXCELLENT, GOOD OR FAIR CONDITION, AN ORIGINAL PICTURE SLEEVE WHICH MAY BE IN EXCELLENT, GOOD OR FAIR CONDITION, AN EXACT REPLICA AS NEW COMPANY SLEEVE OR A PLAIN PAPER SLEEVE. SEE ADDITIONAL NOTES FOR ANY FURTHER QUALIFYING REMARKS.
ADDITIONAL NOTES: There is no centre with this American disc. The disc should play perfectly adequately with little, if any background noise; no pops, skips, or jumps.
All LP's and EP's come with original covers. 15% of the 45rpm records sold have plain paper sleeves because either the company sleeve was never issued or is impossible to find. The remaining 85% of my sales of 45's will have the correct company sleeve for the disc, either the original as supplied with the record at sale or one obtained subsequently as made by Doug Price. See www.bigboppa.co.uk.
SELLING NOTES - AVOID PROBLEMS AND READ THESE CAREFULLY!
EBAY IS ONLY A HOBBY! I AM EXTREMELY BUSY THROUGHOUT THE WORKING WEEK AND SO I AM ONLY ABLE TO POST ON MONDAYS.
1) If you want the item on your doormat the next day please do NOT bid for my records. If your payment does not arrive by the Saturday in the week of sale, your item may miss the post on the following Monday. This may mean that you will have to wait another week for delivery. There is no way of avoiding this problem so please do not leave neutral or negative feedback or otherwise complain about the delay in receiving your item. I would rather you did not bid at all! HonestDave has tried to warn you in a friendly way! Also, please note that I normally leave feedback on sales items at the time of posting and for items I buy, as soon as possible after they arrive.
2) Payment is required no later than 10 days after the of the auction but if you require more time to make other bids, in order to save on postage, that is also fine by me. Do please let me know!
3) Please allow 10 days (15 days for Europe and 30 days if you are further overseas) before asking where your item is. All items are sent by First Class UK Post or Air Mail if overseas. If you want the much slower, cheaper surface mail, say so when winning. It does take a very long time to arrive!
Please note that HonestDave is not responsible for items lost in the mail system. I will do my best to help with the complaints procedure but cannot send insured mail or Special Delivery as the records are collected from my office under the auspices of my travel agency contract. If I have a spare copy of any lost item I will offer that at reduced rates wherever possible.
4) I have been selling on Ebay without major problems for almost five years and for thirty years prior to that as a dealer at specialist record fairs. I am known to be very fair and I do not like upset customers. My gradings of records are therefore very strict and I have regained my 100% positive feedback (the one negative I have ever received having timed out). Feedback total now standing at over 1860 (with repeat feedback over 2580 in total).
Therefore, all my items are 100% fully guaranteed. If an item is not as described, or is in any way unsatisfactory, just send an email and you will be contacted. In all cases where you are unhappy, you WILL BE REFUNDED IN FULL, INCLUDING ALL POSTAGE COSTS but it would be appreciated if you would leave positive feedback first. That way everyone, including myself, is treated fairly. PLEASE DO NOT RETURN ITEMS BEFORE CONTACTING ME.
5) There is no need for Neutral or Negative feedback to be left at all - just talk to me and you cannot lose financially although you may not get the record if I do not have a spare. Any buyer that gives Neutral or Negative feedback without contacting me is unlikely to get a refund and will be immediately blocked from taking part in all my further auctions!
6) If you have a wants list you are welcome to send it by email to info@trainseurope.co.uk with as much detail as you can, plus the maximum amount you are prepared to pay. Add a telephone number so I can call you if I find the record at a fair.
7) SIMPLE AND FAIR POSTAGE PRICES.
I DO NOT make extra profit by ripping off customers with exorbitant postal costs. I DO charge a fair price for safe and strong packaging (40p per normal, small order, and a maximum of 80p for larger orders. All prices below include this charge). All postage prices are correct to the last change made by the Royal Mail on April 6th, 2009 and are valid until further notice. I am not able to offer insurance on any item.
UK CUSTOMERS: you pay just £1.30 for up to three 45's, or £1.70 for 4 to 7 singles. One album now costs £2.55, two is £3.05 and three is no more than £3.65.

THE RECORD COLLECTOR QUALITY GRADES:
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint. I will not use this grade unless I can personally prove it has never been played or is still sealed.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. The majority of my sales are at this grade.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. I will very occasionally sell a record at this grade. It will be clearly marked as such.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc. If the record is very rare, and worthy of sale, I will very occasionally describe a record COVER as Good but only if I do not have a replacement. I DO NOT SELL VINYL AT THIS LOW A GRADE.
FAIR, POOR or BAD: THESE RECORDS HAVE ALREADY BEEN BINNED!
