Up for auction is a small collection of early Chinese records.
The Monarch record and the Victor blue label are both early one-sided records.
The Monarch has a label on the backside (into the record with date Jan1, 1904). Superb label that is in great condition. This record has no chips or cracks. Wear is as pictured. It has been played a bit and sounds like Chinese violins with some gongs periodically. Singing or chanting in what sounds like a female voice, but I am unsure.
The Columbia is a two-sided record with last patent date of Nov 30th 1909. Minor scuff mark on one label. The other side displays excellent.The camera has blown-up a slight mark on the upper portion of the label that is just barely visible to the naked eye. NO cracks or chips.
The Victor record, blue label, is a one-sided record. It has a date on the backside of Feb.1, 1907. It has an extra stamp on the front from the Chinese Merchant Co. in the historical town of Barkerville, B.C. No cracks or chips. There is the odd scratch and wear mark as is to be expected on 100 year old records. Label is in very nice condition.
His Masters Voice Victor label, from the Berliner Gramophone Co. of Montreal, Canada has Patented 1903, 1908. This one is two-sided. Labels are excellent on both sides. Both sides are Chinese-Cantonese. One or two short scratches.
Shipping overseas by Airmail will be $55.00. A lot less withing North America (probably in the $20.00 range). Shipping is not the amount that ebay makes you put down in the listing which wouldn't cover shipping one record.
