Description
This is the rare original deep groove red vinyl pressing of Charlie Parker “Bird Blows the Blues” on the yellow labels of Dial 901. The flat rim playing surface has small abrasions and nicks resulting in tics throughout, even though it has a nice luster; nevertheless, the music comes though crisp and clear, without distortion. As with DLP 1 (which directly preceded this pressing) this version of DLP 901 was probably issued without an art cover. According to Dial’s owner, Ross Russell, sales of DLP 1 and 901 were poor, probably between 200-300 copies total, because record stores resisted selling 12” LPs when their shelves were built to hold 10” 78s and LPs. Personnel include Miles Davis, Duke Jordan, Tommy Potter, and Max Roach. $100.00.
