Charlie Parker: Charlie Parker No. 2: Original Pressing from 1949 on Dial 202 EX

Offered is one of the most significant Bop Jazz releases in the history of recorded music.

Charlie Parker, (along with Dizzy Gillespie), are most generally considered the inventors of Bop during the latter part of the 1940's when these Dial Records 202 recordings were made.

In it, you will hear the substance of much that would follow, both in the style of Bop, and indeed, in Jazz itself :

THE VINYL :  EX :  The LP surfaces retain much of their original gloss, with moderate spindlewear evident on the label. Present on both sides are some light marks, including sleevewear and a few hairlines. There are no deep marks.

The vinyl substance is the heavier grade characteric of many 10" records made during the 1940's-50's, producing a rich analog tone. It is a "deep groove" recording, with the circular groove at about 1" from the spindlehole.

The orange and gold labels are bright, with no missing portions, and remain securely affixed. Present are a few indentations- likely needle marks. Please use the "magnifying feature"  when you examine the photos.

 I did a complete play-grade, and the mono audio quality is quite rich and full. As with most original 1950's-era recordings, this one plays with light background noise.

There was a short skip on B-2, as Earl Coleman begins his vocal, and other than that, this early LP plays with no skips, sticks or pops.  An occasional soft click occurs when the needle passes over a light mark.

THE COVER :  VG+ :  Well-stored with some minor scuffing / the spine has been taped (please see photos) / a name is written in pencil (top right of the rear cover) / bright colours on the front, and the background white on the rear is also bright and shows almost no age-related yellowing  / the opening side corners are sharp / the upper and lower the seams are intact, and show minimal wear with no fraying / no paper loss, paper tears, dirt, or stains.
