Charlie Parker - Bird Blows the Blues, June 1949, Dial DLP I - True Original First Pressing
For purchase is one of the rarest jazz records of all time. From Discogs:
“Dial offered this LP exclusively via a mail-in order coupon in the June 3, 1949 issue of Downbeat magazine. Appropriately described, this “Limited Mail Order Edition,” sold for $5.00 plus shipping (twice the price of standard LPs at the time), no doubt a factor in Dial selling very few. Jazz historians estimate less than 100 sold, some believing the total closer to 25.”
This copy, showing the original DLP IA and DLP IB on the center label, was only printed on the original pressing.
This copy comes as record alone. It is an easy VG. Has hairlines, surface noise, some areas of scuffing (see pics - they’re part of the description; they give a general idea of what problem areas look like). But it plays through; as expected it has obvious background noise. However, there are no skips nor does it stick anywhere. It has been sound tested on a very reliable record player, and it overall sounds pretty great for its age and rarity. It was stored properly and lays flat.
It will be shipped in a generic sleeve, very safely, and will be very well protected.
