Stunning original Atlantic black label first pressing of Carles Mingus' masterpiece Pithecanthropus Erectus with Mingus on bass, Jackie McClean on alto sax, J. R. Montrose on tenor sax, Mal Waldron on piano and Willie Jones on drums. Extremely rare to find the record in this condition. It plays beautifully. It was purchase over twenty years ago from the Leon Leavit private collection, from which it was hand picked over all other copies in his collection. The record is in lovely NM- condition and the cover is VG++ with some shelfware but no seam tears and excellent clarifoyle. The record has been professionally cleaned and I have playgraded it.
