Description

This is what you`ve always been looking for!
A very fine and very well cared for copy of an original and vintage LP Charles Mingus-Pithecanthropus Erectus. Label Atlantic 1237 Black Label Silver Writing and Deep Groove. This is the first edition of this record in Mono. American pressing.
I was lucky to get a collection of jazz records from the widow of a recently passed away jazz maniac from Germany. He bought all of his LPs at the time they have been released and he did not buy them as a collector but as a pure music lover. He bought his records from the beginning 50ies to the end of the 70ies. At the beginning 50ies, buying jazz records was not very easy here in Germany and once you were lucky to find an "import" of an american Jazz record, you would better buy it although it was very expensive. Jazz was very rare in Germany after the World War.
So it is not unusual that jazz records found in vintage collections here in Germany are in very good condition, because the former owners always treated them as a precious and special thing.

So has been done in this case, this record comes, besides me, from the first owner.
The Cover: High gloss thick cardboard cover with almost perfectly preserved lamination, totally shiny and absolutely NO ringwear or shelfmarks or rubbing! Appears fresh and unfaded! The coverfront is a 9.5 out of 10!
Backcover is still very fine, some minor dirt and signs of aging and some tiny stains, nothing serious, I would still rate it as an 7.5 - 8 out of 10!
All spines are perfect, no wear or splits. Tiniest minimal corner wear on upper left corner, not worth to mention.
The backcover appears much better and whiter than in the photo, I don`t know what caused this pinky shade there! It is white and does NOT have this pink shade!
Coverfreaks will love the front, and most likely the back also. The cover appears better than in the pictures, sorry, my pictures are bad!
No original inner sleeve!
The Record: Please note that the record is uncleaned, it comes just the way it was found in the collection!
The vinyl is very clean and shiny, there can be seen some (only very few) usual minor hairlines and in my opinion that`s it! Inspected under bright normal daylight.
Tiny sticker on label on one side from original owner (numbering). See photo.
I have checked the record audibly on my Garrard 301 turntable using an SPU cartridge.
On this equipment the record plays very quiet and absolutely free of distortion, just very slight surface noise which probably will disappear after a cleaning of the record.
No continuous scratches, just the usual single tic or toc just for one or two times occasionally. You can find this on every old record, even on the mintest copies! Actually not worth to mention.
All in all this record is either an excellent copy to collect and as well to listen to!

Well, that`s it, but in case I have forgotten something, please ask BEFORE you place your bid!
ATTENTION: I don`t know why, but I can only list this auction with a shipping rate of $4.00! That`s not correct!! Please read the shipping terms below, these are the actual costs!

Record is located in Germany, so please add $16 worldwide shipping for this record. Countries outside the European Union have to pay through Paypal, sorry, no exceptions. Countries inside the EU can as well pay through Iban/Bic wirement.
