Description

CHARLES BROWNING - A CHOIRBOY'S LAMENT (Sounds Reasonable Inc., US 1972?) CONDITION: Cover: VG++ (top seam half split, some dust wear on cover) Record: M- Rare private pressing. Eastern flavored folk psych with rural and westcoast/country leanings. The opening track 'Dopico' sounds a little like a more eastern version of Led Zeppelin's "Black Mountain Side" with tablas and beautiful acoutsitc guitar. His take on the song 'Cod'ine' is a dark folk space psych piece with intense speaker-to-speaker synthesiser work, chilling vocals, trippy dark lyrics... puts chills up the spine. 'Yer Grandfather's Guestroom', with tablas, very nice acoustic guitar, dulcimer and trippy shimmering cymbals kind of reminds me some of George Harrisons solo stuff. The remainder of music falls in the folk and rural camp of sound. Oddly enough Emmylou Harris can be found snuck into harmony vocals on two tracks. Beautiful cover art with dark, eyeless angle done in an old lithograph style. Some of the mentioned tracks make this one of the better lp's I've heard in a while. No reserve. Good luck!
