"The Cavern Presents The First Ever Liverpool Jazz Festival January 1960"

The Cavern presents Liverpool's first ever "jazz festival" organized to last an entire week of evening entertainment. The club opened the first night starting with Mr. Acker Bilk's Paramount Jazz Band. The remainder of the weeks schedule had performances from Terry Lightfoot's New Orleans Jazzmen, Alex Welsh and his Band, Johnny Duncan and the Blue Grass Boys, Ken Coyler's Jazzmen and Mickey Ashman's Band.
A very RARE BEATLES related Programme, this being a Programme for the "First Ever" Liverpool Jazz Festival at the Cavern Club (later home base of The Beatles) during the week beginning 10th January 1960. The Beatles connection, however, is enhanced on the inside back cover (see picture), where 4 other supporting Liverpool groups are listed including Rory Storm & The Hurricanes, with band members listed. On drums for Rory Storm, is a certain RINGO STARR, hitting the "limelight" well ahead of his later co-Beatles. Of the retinue of Jazz Musicians featured are Acker Bilk, The Saints, Ronnie Scott, Johnny Duncan, Ken Colyer etc. Among the supporting Mersey-based groups is the very early line-up Swinging Blue Jeans.
The Programme has no fold marks, however the upper staple is missing, the lower staple has corroded leaving the pages loosely bound. There are one or two small stains on the front cover as seen in the picture.
A really nice early piece of Beatles related Memorabilia.
