Description

An original 1st issue of Tea For The Tillerman on the UK Pink Rim Island label from 1970. Matrix 3U/3U. Etching LH Sterling. Ok, so I hear you ask 'what about the solid pink label'? Yes, that most certainly was THE 1st pressing of this LP, but was only available for the first week or two of release. Almost immediately Island switched to the Pink Rim design and these early copies have exactly the same matrix cut as the very 1st press. So, this LP conforms to 1st issue - a record available at 1st release whilst charting. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original E J Day printed cover which is textured on the inside also please note the 'I' for Island is coloured red in the interior too [not white]. All of which establishes that this pressing is from within the first couple of months of release. Also included is the original blue Island inner sleeve. 
Vinyl (Ex+) In superb condition and has only seen the lightest use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of very light marks - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Let me start by saying that the audio on these early copies is nothing short of astonishing - fantastic transparency. Interference is minimal. All we could detect was couple of crackles right at the end of 'Into The White' - and very little else really. A truly top-level rendition.
Cover (Ex) In great shape and has clearly been looked after down the years. A lovely shiny front with a tiny sticker mark in the top-left. The rear is in equally fine condition with no creases or nasty marks at all. The interior is absolutely immaculate. The surface is in beautiful condition and there is no fading of the image at all - pristine! Edge wear is very light and the spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent perfect rigidity and remains a terrific example.
Inner (Ex-) Some light ageing - no splits though.
