The Magic Bow, Michael Rabin (Violin) and The Hollywood Bowl Symphony Orchestra conducted by Felix Slatkin Capitol STEREO Recording, very rare and desirable. In the thousands of classical LP's I have seen, I have only ever seen this LP twice, here it is again but in a cheaper format than the UK pressing I sold 4 months ago.

Stock code Capitol SP 8510 Rainbow label FDS (Full Dimensional Sound).

This LP fully cleaned and test played prior to listing, also treated with 'LAST' RECORD CLEANER AND PRESERVATIVE.

IF this was an original US or UK pressing, some on line retailers value it in mint condition over $500aud. Recently on Ebay the American pressing has fetched at auction well over that in recent weeks.The good news is this plays like mint, but has a cover seam split on bottom edge,( details below).

This is however an Australian LP, it is in an American  original Capitol  cover, (hence the seam split, if you know what I mean!!).

The keen starting price for this LP reflects that this is an AUSTRALIAN pressing, NOT THE UK or US PRESSING.

CONDITION  (summary, more detail further down)

 LP is very clean looking for its age,AND GAVE NO EVIDENCE OF WEAR OR  DAMAGE DURING TEST PLAYING.  I CAN ONLY  SEE ONE NON SOUNDING PAPER SCUFF ABOUT 2.5 CM LONG, at 12 o'clock on the start of side 2,  but too fine to get a photograph of, (I TRIED!!) .  THE REST, DARE I SAY IT IS extremely clean and silent on test play, perhaps a few crackles in between tracks, but I noted nothing of any significance during test play to distract from this classic Violin album's enjoyment during play.  A little note on the perceived quality of Australian Pressings.  When I sold the UK pressing a while ago I compared the sound quality to my copy of an OZ World Record Club pressing, and I concluded the Australian pressing was  more dynamically  pleasing, and had a higher recorded volume than the UK pressing (my Db meter says so) Accordingly, I actually had my cake and ate it, as I sold the UK pressing and kept the nicer so called valueless one to enjoy.

This is not that record, but according to the stamper numbers and the 'Look' of this pressing made by EMI Australia, it is identical to my WRC copy, I have played them both, again this one just has a few more crackles in the track gaps.  SO HERE'S YOUR CHANCE TO OWN A VERY RARE OZ COPY, RARER I RECKON THAN THE US OR UK VERSION, SIMPLY BASED ON LOW POPULATION OF OZ COMPARED TO THE OTHERS AT TIME OF PRESSING (12 MILLION POPULATION)

LABELS

Very clean, evidence of more play on side 1 due to the number of spindle marks on side two label, compared to only a couple of spindle marks on side one label.   

FULL TEST PLAY REVEALED ONLY ONE OR TWO SMALL POPS.

I try to test play as best as I can all my auction items that start for more than 20AUD per disc. As far as I know EMI australia pressed these from a set of original Capitol Stampers.

Hopefully you can see one of the stampers on the supersize photo's, they are in a thick bold itallic(?) style of lettering. and have exactly the same depth and placement as my WRC copy aforementioned.

 I dare say as OZ only had 12 million population in the 60's, the number of these still in existence would be far fewer than from the UK or USA where there  were lots more potential 'buyers' for their pressings.

Condition (detailed)

I have supplied 6 super size photo's of various aspects, There are very few quiet pops and ticks spasmodically thru out the record, it is nearly 40? yrs old after all, but specific areas of small damage, if any, are as follows

SIDE TWO One very small paper scuff, looks like faint hairline (2.5cm long) visually, halfway into  track 1  but makes absolutely no sound. Otherwise......looks like a new record!!. you'll have to look hard to find even a hint of a paper cover scuff. Some smearing in runout area from a previous cleaning effort by previous owner, 'LAST" cleaner I used did not lift them.

SIDE ONE  as per side one very clean looking, NO OBVIOUS SCUFFS OR SCRATCHES just a few intermittent unrepetitive quiet clicks throughout. Run in and run out areas have very mild background crackle , not during music.

Record came to me obviously cared for. However I HAVE  cleaned it  with a Knosti record cleaner, then treated with LAST "power cleaner" and LAST "record preservative" (said to protect from playing wear for up to 200 'plays'). Most audiophiles such as yourselves are probably already using this or similar, I have just saved you the time and expense.
COVER Condition

It has minimal rubbing of the US Printed  unlaminated cover,with NO ring wear. Cover is too thick a cardboard for that, but the American seams have ripped on bottom seam (THEREFORE STUFFED!!) in the middle where the record sits stored  vertically,for about 8cm(3"). and again at the same bottom edge, near the opening for about3".  THIS IS CLOSE TO JOINING THE OTHER SPLIT, WHICH EFECTIVELY MEANS THE BOTTOM SEAM IS VERYN STUFFED!!!!!!TOP SEAM HAS PRINTING ON IT WHICH HAS RUBBED OFF, THEREFORE CLOSE TO STARTING A SEAM SPLIT, BUT NOT QUITE.......(see photo's of damage, photo 6)

The rear card is  well maintained,  cardboard rubbing of the surface is very minimal.  some very minor yellowing.

The original  inner sleeve was only a plain plastic sleeve in Australia, and having just  cleaned the LP so well, I am supplying a more modern archive quality sleeve with anti stat and no scratching properties.  This is from the modern audiophile company Mobile Fidelity (MFSL) and is standard issue with their vinyl pressings.
