Label Conditions: Both very clean, fresh and attractive with any spindle traces being ultra fine, very few and faint, barely any on side one at all. This is a super example from the same impressive clean collection I have been offering lately.

Warps: Assume all records I offer have no warping of any significance and all tracking is easy and effortless and should play on all turntables and even ‘budget’ decks.

Weight of this Record: 138 grams. A very good above average weight for this one.

Rarity: Moderatly scarce, ones in superb condition are far harder to find. A popular record with many seen heavily played. This example on the other end of the spectrum. This very early copy has the rarer laminated front cover, most seen are unlaminated with record having later mother and stamper codes.

Brief Artist & Album Info: Arguably their finest ever album, but all their early records are excellent. Always so distinctive for style and sound with one of the finest vocalists from this period, John Fogerty, he rarely sounded better than on this wonderful issue. The very first song, the lengthy ‘Ramble Tamble’ gets the album off to a spectacular start, CCR almost get heavy and this song has the most wonderful riff that even Black Sabbath might have been proud of. A repetitive chord sequence that builds and then the lead guitar kicks in and then sheer nirvana. Also included are the magnificent ‘Up Around the Bend’ and ‘Who’ll Stop the Rain’, always sounding so much better on the original album rather than compilations and the penultimate tour de force, the long version of ‘I Heard it Through the Grapevine’ clocking in at over 11 minutes. What an absolute classic this album is and hearing a copy that plays nigh-on perfectly is the only way it deserves. Special mention of the cover as well: very prone to all forms of wear and rarely seen even an attractive excellent. This one is a beauty with little to fault and this puts the icing on an already rich cake.

Cover Grade and Format: MINT(–): and even this being critical on one of the best I have ever seen. A single format with a laminated front. This covers all the closed edges and ends on the back via the spine edge. Printed and made in England by Upton and includes the plain white inner sleeve. The laminated covers were the first made, quickly changed to non-laminated covers that were still made by Upton.

Cover Front: This cover is in superb condition, cover-protected from new by just the one owner. The laminated front always adds that extra class and quite honestly, this one looks practically as made. Deep shine, freshness and ultimate clarity with no lifting and barely a crease trace to be seen. The famous artwork will never be found looking better. Even scrutinised under angled light, any traces of rim impression are mimuscule. No press marks and as smooth as glass, what an absolute beauty!

Cover Back: The back is unprotected, but in almost the same amazing condition. The only blemish is totally natural: the laminate end on the spine edge has shrunk a fraction (as laminate does), so a mild darkened line is seen which is only very light indeed. Practically nothing can be done about this and even mentioning it is being ultra critical. Very clean, fresh with no creasing or ringwear, they hardly get much better, any press marks tiny, very few and faint.

Top Edge & Bottom Edges: Both very smooth and unworn, both remain quite straight with mimimal affect from laminate tightening.

Right Edge(s), and Type: Clean, very sharp with barely any wear at all and guaranteed untrimmed. The narrow strip on the front right edge where the laminate ends naturally short is little short of pristine. Record enters on this fragile edge.

Spine and Text: An abolutely fantastic spine. Very solid, straight with barely any hint of compression at all. All text is perfect and unworn as seen on my pictures, also well centred on a fairly narrow depth.

Corners: All corners are in superb condition as well with barely any hint of rubbing and better than excellent to near mint shape retained.

Cover Summary: A more than memorable cover, one protected from new and barely even handled. With so few blemishes to this quite thin card, it indeed could prove a major upgrade for many and should please most-all collectors.

The Inner Sleeve: EXCELLENT(++): a plain solid white unlined inner. Very clean, fresh and all the edges unsplit with no repairs. Any hint of creasing minimal with just a gentle trace on the back.

Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading: EXCELLENT(+): an impressive visual copy that is very clean with lovely sine and very solidly pressed. A copy that appears very little played reitterated by superb sound throughout. Any surface marks are very fine and faint indeed as seen more critically under bright angled light. Hairline type blemishes only with no penetrating scratches or scuffs at all. A 44-year-old popular record still in age defying condition and this lovely record should please many, if not collectors again.

Album Played For Grading: Yes. [I play ALL records I offer before submitting to Ebay, also the record is played in its entirety unless clearly stated otherwise. I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness – I play from the beginning to end via clinically revealing B&W speakers that include the legendary tweeter from their awesome Nautilus range that reveals every blemish or miniscule sound present on any record.]

Sound Quality and Audio Grading: This high quality, early pressed 1 / 1 mother stamped Liberty record plays even above it’s very high visual grading with practically nothing to fault. Strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear - sound quality is very high with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound. Beautiful clean sound with no pops or clicks noted and this is an exceptional clean pressing. Clearly a record that avoided any mistreatment or abuse from the early days, any fine and faint surface blemishes have no affect whatsoever. Few copies will be seen a great deal better and less still will match or outperform it for clean audio quality. Nothing spoilt my pleasure when play-grading this wonderful record, a true classic in it’s own right. This copy cold prove very difficult to find better and can be strongly recommended.

The record’s cover will be placed within a BRAND NEW soft protective sleeve and the actual record will be professionally cleaned on my new VPI-17 Pro vacuum system to give ultimate clean grooves and playing surfaces and the best possible looks and ultimate sound quality. You will NOT get tired, dull looking, dust infested records inside worn and foggy covers with tatty inners from this seller and that’s a promise and guarantee. All records are posted in professional boxes (NOT Mailers, these do not offer any real protection). SOME GENERAL GUIDES TO WEAR AND CONDITIONS TO HELP YOU DECIDE

My Use of Description Terminology: Surface Marks = Superficial, usually light marks, hairlines or light scuffs that rarely sound. Scratch = a needle mark that goes below the record’s surface, some will sound, some will not, my play-grade will inform. Original = a record that has been pressed with the first label design which does NOT necessarily mean a very first pressed record. First Pressing = A record that I believe or know to be a genuine very first pressed record. I do not claim to always know for sure, and that’s why I state the stamper and matrix numbers if at all possible, for those who claim to know what they all mean, the information is there for the collector to decide. I prefer to use terms like ‘Early Copy’ rather than ‘First Pressing’ if I am not totally sure. Surface Sound = Mild, light sound, usually light crackle or similar. Distortion = Break up of the actual sound caused by groove wear or damage from a chipped stylus – the most undesirable form of unwanted sound, vintage mono records were the most prone to this happening but not exclusively so. The symptoms of distortion are high frequency clipping, moderate constant crackle or an echo type sound quality. Violin, piano and vocals are most prone to groove-wear distortion. Feathering = Fraying or softening of the entry edge of a cover. Covers with feathered entrance edges are more likely to have had the actual record inserted and removed more than a non-feathered, sharp-edged cover which are always far more attractive. Set Off, actually a printer’s term for dark ink leaving mild residue on pale or white ink when rested upon. e.g. when a gatefold cover has black ink closed against white, this can leave some black residue on the pale area – this is mostly unavoidable or course.

The Argument for Vinyl Original sound and mix (mono mixes are rarely available on CD), high quality sound on clean copies (played on a hi-end dedicated analogue system – breathtaking sound!), beautiful, large format covers, artwork, inserts and even full size posters etc; huge investment potential, and the pleasure of owning ‘the real thing’.
