Label Conditions: Both in stunning condition: ultra clean, super fresh and highly attractive with any of the tiny few spindle marks super-fine and faint barely even showing. These are so clean and fresh looking, without doubt hardly ever handled or likely played. The record so ‘secure’ inside it’s original date-coded inner, I am certain it has not seen light-of-day for decades.

Warps: Assume all records I offer have no warping of any significance and all tracking is easy and effortless and should play on all turntables and even ‘budget’ decks.

Weight of this Record: 143 grams. An impressive weight for this one, and over average.

Rarity: Rarer on the original blue labels, more are seen and offered on the repressed black labels. Condition is a factor also, and they rarer get seen or heard better than this.

Brief Info: Second album by the kings of ‘swamp rock’, this one really got their special sound established. Featuring one of the most distinctive vocalists in rock, John Fogerty, this band went from strength-to-strength. What a pleasure to hear this vintage copy sounding so impressively clean too. The heavily pressed record could almost pass for new and plays to perfection. The cover is almost the same and the full laminate gleams. A truly stunning example that will delight even the most critical audiophile purist.

Cover Grade and Format: EXCELLENT(++): a single, fully laminated format. This was printed and made in England by MacNeill Press. This includes it’s original date-coded [1/0170] Polydor-style polylined inner (as seen in close-up).

Laminate: Front & Back: This is critically and very conservatively graded. With it’s dazzling out-of-focus psych-style artwork, the front looks more than impressive with a laminate gleam and freshness of unusual beauty. The front has three light surface creases which are only fairly small, the back has none at all. The spine edge both side has lifted which is immensely difficult to avoid on this cover, a natural trait and often present when first purchased. My grading does not take this into account because it is not really wear as such. This has no cracking or peeling at all and does not detract from the stunning graphics both sides. Even under light, this has minimal, if any traces of any friction rubs or dulling and barely any record pressmarks.The sheer beauty of the bright, vivid artwork shines through the incredibly fresh and clear laminate. This has not aged at all and has the lustre of a just bought copy. The fine exposed strips on the edges where the laminate ends a little short of full width is unworn and has no grime-line formation. Cover protected from new and the difference it makes is more than evident. An absolutely superb front and back that raises the bar very high.

Top Edge: Unworn and very straight too.

Bottom Edge: Practically the same, any thickening to the back panel end is ultra minor, this being highly impressive for a resting edge that can be said has barely any wear at all.

Right Edge(s), and Type: Clean, razor sharp with no wear and guaranteed untrimmed. Record enters on this edge.

Spine and Text: A super spine too: solid, mainly straight with any compression minor and light. A faint rub trace near the top is actually under the laminate, so present in manufacture, it’s microns thick anyway. All text is perfect and unworn under the solid and uncracked laminate.

Corners: All crisp and very neat with excellent or even better shape retained.

Cover Summary: A hugely pleasing all-round example of this original late 60s cover. It will delight most-all collectors, these are seldom seen in such clean and fresh condition with laminate this incredibly shiny and clear.

The Inner Sleeve: MINT(-): the original Polydor-style polylined inner is included in equally impressive condition. With minimal clues to age with any discolouration, even to the seams, being minimal and faint. All edges unsplit (with no repairs) and a superbly neat window with very crisp and sharp circles and clear, uncreased lining. No guessing on age of this one with its 1/0170 date coding as seen on my close-up picture.

Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading: MINT(-), even with full natural sunlight beaming in through my window, this marvellous record shows barely any noteworthy surface blemishes. Any of the tiny few present are ultra fine and faint, no record will avoid micro-hairlines if viewed closely enough and this has little more than that. A supreme visual copy, arguably even undergraded Mint(-), that is incredibly clean, shiny, intense black and very solidly pressed. This beautiful record retains a deep lustre and freshness and please remember its vintage, now over 40-years-old, an incredibly preserved piece that has clearly hardly ever been used. A visual beauty that will please most-all collectors.

Album Played For Grading: Yes. [I play ALL records I offer before submitting to Ebay, also the record is played in its entirety unless clearly stated otherwise. I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness – I play from the beginning to end via clinically revealing B&W speakers that include the legendary tweeter from their awesome Nautilus range that reveals every blemish or miniscule sound present on any record.]

Sound Quality and Audio Grading: This original blue labelled Liberty record plays up to its high visual grading with nothing to fault. Strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear - sound quality is impeccable with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound. Devoid of surface sounds and no pops or clicks were noted and this is an exceptional clean, heavy pressing of the utmost quality. Few copies will even match let alone outperform this very early pressing I feel sure. Both channels are clean and sharp with no unwanted noise, just fantastic clean sound that takes you into the recording studio itself. Nothing spoilt my pleasure when play-grading this wonderful record. This copy will prove immensely difficult to find better, on the blue label especially. This classic set merits my highest possible recommendation, a delight from start to finish and little short of connoisseur standard.

The record’s cover will be placed within a BRAND NEW soft protective sleeve and the actual record will be professionally cleaned on my new VPI-17 Pro vacuum system to give ultimate clean grooves and playing surfaces and the best possible looks and ultimate sound quality. You will NOT get tired, dull looking, dust infested records inside worn and foggy covers with tatty inners from this seller and that’s a promise and guarantee. All records are posted in professional boxes (NOT Mailers, these do not offer any real protection). The record(s) are REMOVED from their main cover to avoid edge splits and placed within a brand new polylined inner. The record’s original inner will be included if available. The boxes are then reinforced with at least TWO, ULTRA THICK stiffeners for maximum extra protection – these are FOUR TIMES thicker than commercial stiffeners and are custom-made for oneadayrecords. Really rare and expensive albums will even be Double Boxed if deemed necessary and possible. When larger boxes are used, the thick record and stiffener ‘sandwich’ is then thickly embedded into bubble-wrap to bulk out the record inside the box to centre the item inside to reduce the risk of damage still further. SOME GENERAL GUIDES TO WEAR AND CONDITIONS TO HELP YOU DECIDE

My Use of Description Terminology: Surface Marks = Superficial, usually light marks, hairlines or light scuffs that rarely sound. Scratch = a needle mark that goes below the record’s surface, some will sound, some will not, my play-grade will inform. Original = a record that has been pressed with the first label design which does NOT necessarily mean a very first pressed record. First Pressing = A record that I believe or know to be a genuine very first pressed record. I do not claim to always know for sure, and that’s why I state the stamper and matrix numbers if at all possible, for those who claim to know what they all mean, the information is there for the collector to decide. I prefer to use terms like ‘Early Copy’ rather than ‘First Pressing’ if I am not totally sure. Surface Sound = Mild, light sound, usually light crackle or similar. Distortion = Break up of the actual sound caused by groove wear or damage from a chipped stylus – the most undesirable form of unwanted sound, vintage mono records were the most prone to this happening but not exclusively so. The symptoms of distortion are high frequency clipping, moderate constant crackle or an echo type sound quality. Violin, piano and vocals are most prone to groove-wear distortion. Feathering = Fraying or softening of the entry edge of a cover. Covers with feathered entrance edges are more likely to have had the actual record inserted and removed more than a non-feathered, sharp-edged cover which are always far more attractive. Set Off, actually a printer’s term for dark ink leaving mild residue on pale or white ink when rested upon. e.g. when a gatefold cover has black ink closed against white, this can leave some black residue on the pale area – this is mostly unavoidable or course.

The Argument for Vinyl Original sound and mix (mono mixes are rarely available on CD), high quality sound on clean copies (played on a hi-end dedicated analogue system – breathtaking sound!), beautiful, large format covers, artwork, inserts and even full size posters etc; huge investment potential, and the pleasure of owning ‘the real thing’.
