Description
CREAM ''WHEELS OF FIRE'' ORIGINAL EARLIEST (1969) 1ST UK PRESS (DOUBLE LP) CAT NO 2612003 RAREST TO FIND ORIGINAL (((MONO))) VERSION! (RARER AND MUCH MORE SOUGHT AFTER THAN THE MORE COMMON STEREO PRESSING) ABSOLUTELY TOP AUDIO ON ALL FREQUENCIES! (NEAR PERFECT\NEAR MINT AUDIO ON MY SYSTEMS! ! VISUALLY THE PLAYING SURFACES ARE AWESOME! #1,#1,#1,#1 MATRIX ENDINGS,EARLUIEST EVER!!! SUPERBE E.DAY &CO GATEFOLD COVER! VERY RARELY SEEN IN THIS AWESOME TOP CONDITION!!!
Another from my personal collection, Very rare to find the original Mono pressings of this album in this top condition! This album has been stored in a case with the vinyls removed from the sleeves and cover for protection for over 25 years. This is how I have always stored my records. This has helped to prevent any unnecessary ringware or damage to the cover for all of this time! I have carefuly played this album track for track prior to listing on a top system using a dedicated mono cartridge! All four sides play very near perfect on my systems. (NO) Loud clicks, pops, and (no) distortion what so ever! Absolutely stunning cristal clear mono audio with a real rich deep bassy feel only found on these originals! Important to note! I have also an original stereo 1st issue version of thhis same album and the vinyls on the mono copy are almost twice as thick and heavy than the stereo! Points to note! Only the earliest pressings feature the rough textured labels for disk 1. This is one of the earliest original mono copies to ever find and in this top condition is very desirable!,, Unbelievable for a 40 year old Cream original like this!!
Wheels of Fire is the name of the double album recorded by Cream. The release was largely successful, scoring the band a #3 peak in the UK and a #1 in the US, and became the world's first platinum-selling album!!!
The album was also released as Wheels of Fire (In the Studio) and Wheels of Fire (Live at the Fillmore) as two single albums, released together, with similar cover art except: In the UK, the studio album was black print on aluminium foil, while the Live at the Fillmore album was a negative image of the sudio cover. In Japan, the studio album was black on gold foil, while the live album was black on aluminium foil. In Australia, both covers were laminated copies of the Japanese releases (it was never released as a double album in Australia).
The sleeve was designed by Australian pop artist and cartoonist Martin Sharp, and it won the New York Art Directors Prize for Best Album Design in 1969!!!!
Disc one: In the Studio
- "White Room" (Jack Bruce, Pete Brown) – 4:58
- "Sitting on Top of the World" (Howlin' Wolf) – 4:58
- "Passing the Time" (Ginger Baker, Mike Taylor) – 4:37
- "As You Said" (Bruce, Brown) – 4:20
- "Pressed Rat and Warthog" (Baker, Taylor) – 3:13
- "Politician" (Bruce, Brown) – 4:12
- "Those Were the Days" (Baker, Taylor) – 2:53
- "Born Under a Bad Sign" (Booker T. Jones, William Bell) – 3:09
- "Deserted Cities of the Heart" (Bruce, Brown) – 3:38
- "Anyone for Tennis" (Eric Clapton, Martin Sharp) - 2:39
Disc two: Live at the Fillmore
- "Crossroads" (Robert Johnson, arr. Clapton) – 4:14
- "Spoonful" (Willie Dixon) – 16:48
- "Traintime" (Bruce) – 6:52
- "Toad" (Baker) – 16:16
Although listed as four tracks and pressed with a track separation between the songs, this album consists of only two recordings, with the audio signal continuing intact between the tracks as the band segues between the songs!!!.
While the disc is labeled Live at the Fillmore, only "Toad" was recorded at Fillmore West. The other tracks were recorded live at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco!!!.
The Vinyls
Both vinyls on initial inspection look awesome, Please note! These are the original Thick heavy chunks of vinyl only ever found on the earliest pressings like this! The playing surfaces even in strong light look superbe still retaining their original sheen from new!
Only when scrutinised under a strong light can any, and indeed very very (very) few surface marks be seen! Please note! these have very little if (no) effect on the audio that i could hear what so ever!!!
The Audio Quality
I have played both vinyls track for track on a top system at very loud volume, using a dedicated mono cartridge!! I found both vinyls absolutely awesome all of the way through with absolutely (no) distortion or background noise what so ever even in between tracks these sound like almost new vinyls. TOP! TOP! AUDIO ON ALL FREQUENCIES! CRISTAL CLEAR AND VIBRANT! Please allow for the odd light static tick \ crackle only really heard during some quiet tracks! In my opinion this is almost as good as it gets!!! I HEARD (NO) LOUD CLICKS \ POPS AND CERTAINLY (NO) SKIPS OR JUMPS OR ANY DISTORTION WHAT SO EVER TOP AUDIO!! just very light static crackle\ticks in some quiet places! I would class myself as highly critical Please look at my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!Awesome mono audio throughout!,, in my opinion the only way to hear this album, a truely rich and vibrant bassey feel only found on the mono version. I own both the mono and the stereo versions of this album and the mono can not be surpassed in my opinion, and more importantly this is the rarest and most sought after!!! !
Please note! This album has been stored in a case for at least 25 years laying dormant. A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves cause static ticks\crackle!!!! A constant clean before each play is recomended! This reduces this static and enhances the audio quality!
Please note! I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd light static click\tick\crackle (not consistant throughout the audio! Please remember that these are genuine vinyls that are 39 years old and would have been played on a 39 year old system!!!

The Cover
This is the original (1st press) E.DAY & CO stereo gatefold cover Very very hard to keep like this and certainly to find in good condition! This cover is awesome with (no) splits or tares! There is very minor\minimal crease at all to talk of only (hardly noticable unless you look for them, see photos) Amaizingly all writing can be read at the spine (very rare to find) THIS IS THE ORIGINAL STRONG AND STRAIGHT AN ABSOLUTELY SUPERBE 38 YEAR OLD ORIGINAL!!RARELY SEEN LIKE THIS!!
