VERY RARE CONFUSE LP that collects trax from the impossible-to-find BLUE JUG flexi Nuclear Addicts (1984) + the Stupid Life 12" (1989) + Contempt for the Authority 7" + Spending Loud Night 7" + 2 of 3 songs from the Jitsatsu Omnibus 8" . . . low-press, underground release!  GREAT, FUZZed OUT, raging JAPAN HARDCORE / PUNK / PROTO-THRASH. From the land of Warhead, SS, Cobra, Crow, The Sexual, M-78, Ziga, The Friction, Laughing Nose, LSD, Outo, S.O.B., Gas, Gai, Kuro, GISM, Bastard, The Clay, Comes, Death Side, The Execute, Gauze, G-Zet, Lip Cream, The Stalin, Star Club, Systematic Death.....

Cover is VG+ with light shelfwear/ringwear. No other problems.  BOOKLET-INSERT, including band photos, Cover/Record/Insert/Label xeroxes, etc, IS INCLUDED IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.

RECORD plays VG+ / looks VG+ with light sleeve-scuffing only; No skips or sticks or noteworthy pops. Very Minor surface noise.

KILL FROM THE HEART sez:

The first recordings of Confuse appear to be the stuff on the Spending Loud Night 7" (King's World Records). These recordings are ultraraw noisy thrash and are possibly from a demotape, but I haven't run across a trader that had this demo, although I have heard it was... This stuff is from 1983 and I think is a 4-track basement demo type of thing. The Indignation demo from 1984 is definitly a demo tape, I have seen two covers for this tape. More controlled noise but still outrageously fuzzed out and violent sounding. Later this year Confuse entered the studio for what I believe was the first time and produced the Nuclear Addicts flexi. This, as with the progression from the 1st demo to the 2nd demo, shows a less chaotic and more focused attack, but if you had never heard the demos and just this you'd be hard pressed to believe it. The flexi is a classic noisecore record, abrasive rough buzzsaw thrash a la Disorder but heavier. After this, Confuse appear on a compilation 8" called Jisatsu Omnibus and the three songs are a bit more rough sounding than Nuclear Addicts (some of them are rerecordings of older songs from the demos as well).

1985 saw Confuse record another 7" EP of material and the sound here is much cleaner and sharper than any other releases - dare I say poppy? Contempt for the Authority and Take off the Lie is catchy and bouncy as hell and almost unrecognizable from the last record. I suspect the influence of the Swankys' switch to their more '77 sound from Gai's full out Disorder noise attack was partially to blame for this. This is still a really good record by the way!

As far as I know this is the last thing they did until they did one track for a compilation record/cd called Neo in 1988. I am taking this from the info on the song list from their CD collection Old Master. I have never seen Neo or seen anyone with it on their trade list. It may not exist!

The last official Confuse record was released if I recall correctly in 1992, it's called Stupid Life and was recorded in 1989. It's their only 12" and is a bit of an odd record, it sounds like nothing else they did, but it's good though! I'm having a hard time explaining what it's like... It's almost like 70's rock in structure sometimes, I think.

This is where the Confuse story ends - not much story to it, I have never seen an interview with the guys or heard anecdotes about them, they are somewhat shrouded in mystery.

CONFUSE from Japan were the sh*t back in the day. Their records, particularly this Flexi Disc, were hard to find and there was some kind of aura shining around them. No wonder, since especially this babe still stands up there in the glory hall of primitive distorted noise (pdn). What else can you say? That they probably gave their DISORDER records some good spinnin’ before recording this? That their musical talent shows in the enigmatic emblem of no talent? That the guys looked like a bunch of postcard punks? That all of this doesn’t matter now, nearly a quarter of a century later, and we can just sit back and enjoy the beautiful brutality of CONFUSE?

One more thing. Dig, founder of Earache Records, one day in 1985 had the glorious idea of recording two songs on a cheap cassette tape, one each from OUTO and CONFUSE and renaming them (”Disaster” from CONFUSE became “(Charles Manson is) Innocent” and “I like Cola” was re-titled “I like killing”). Then he called the “band” WEREWOLF CHAOS (or was it ANTICHRIST?) and started putting the tape in the international traders pipe. It didn’t take long and the tape was on every list throughout the world and many people thought of it as the new hot sh*t.
