Description
Released in an edition of 500 white vinyl copies, this is Coil's Music To Play In The Dark (Vol. 1) complete with a numbered certificate, signed by John Balance and Peter Christopherson.
There are two major issues to note with this copy. There is a 1.5" split seam area of damage to the top of the sleeve (due to the record being sent to me inside the sleeve! Yes - people still do this...). Also - and not mentioned by the original seller - is an area of groove damage, several small and light - but audible - scratches in an area roughly the size of a 5p piece mainly affecting the latter part of Red Birds... but also the start of Red Queen. The clicking produced is very light, but it is audible.
I have tried to take a photo of the markings but they are too faint to show - in the close-up photo of the vinyl below the markings are actually in the centre of the image. The three other tacks are not affected by any damage, and play beautifully.
There is also a large, slight corner bend to the sleeve top right (from the front) which doesn't show on the photos. The creasing is more noticeable on the back than the front.
If nothing else at least the cover would be - as I'm sure Coil themselves would suggest - 'suitable for framing', and The Dreamer Is Still Asleep can be listened to unmolested. Due to the horrors mentioned I'm listing this one with a starting price of 23p. And if that's what it ends at - that's what I'll sell it for.
Includes the signed Certificate of Provenance - this is copy Number 47 - and inside the sleeve has been stuck the shipping sticker that was on the original mailer from Coil.

Records are sent outside of their sleeves to prevent seam split*, and where inner printed sleeves are present they will be separated from these also. I know all too well the distress** caused by a poorly packed record and will do everything I can to ensure that I do not add to that misery! To this end please afford me the opportunity of time to make sure that everything is packed well and securely before it is sent off, especially if purchases are combined.
