CLUSTER 1972 ‘CLUSTER II’ ORANGE BRAIN LABEL 1006 GATEFOLD SLEEVE LP IN ALMOST ARCHIVE CONDITION
Although this is the Orange Brain label it is the original, 1972 Brain 1006 issue number, not the later, (1981) reissue BRAIN 0060.402.
Sleeve Condition: Ex+
Record Condition: I think it more than likely that before I test played it, this record was unplayed. It certainly gives every appearance of having lived its whole life untouched. There are no centring marks round the spindle hole and the LP plays flawlessly. It would be impossible to find another in this condition.
The most important and consistently underrated space-rock unit of the '70s, Cluster (originally Kluster) was formed by Dieter Moebius, Hans-Joachim Roedelius and Conrad Schnitzler as an improv group that used everything from synthesizers to alarm clocks and kitchen utensils
This, their second album, was as a duo, recorded in January, 1972 in similar style to their previous works. Cluster II is mostly an album of drones and industrial atmospheres; an ambient album before the label began to be applied to music. For the first time Cluster broke down their sound experiments into some bite-sized pieces that reflected their strange kind of humour. Something of an early milestone in ambient, electronic and experimental music.
