Description

It's now over a year since the very sad passing away of renowned and highly respected music collector and ardent archivist George Crotty, here in Sydney. Many of you will know of his intense passion for all forms of Australian beat and garage music, and his utterly invaluable assistance in compiling all manner of 60's garage, punk, and beat compendia (Glenn A. Baker's earliest compilations all bore thank you's to George - he simply could NOT have done them without George's help, in fact) . Some of you mightn't know that that same passion extended to those same genres worldwide.

He was renowned for having one of the best collections of 60's Garage, Beat, Punk, Surf & Psychedelic 7"s, EPs and LPs (especially of Australian artists) - gathered together meticulously and carefully for longer than the 36 year period I'd known him.

(Along with his rabid passion for, specifically, The Easybeats, George had a 'thing' for The Beatles, and British beat - in fact, as a 19 year-old in his native Serbia, while fronting a garage band by the name of The Q in 1965/early 1966, he was known as Nesa Bitls (pronounced Nesher Beatles), and the pix of him looking like one of The Beatles, 1965-era, are awesome - he looked SO damn cool.)

George had amassed a HUGE collection of worldwide pressings of vinyl by Cliff Richard and the Shadows/Drifters, Cliff Richard alone, and The Shadows by themselves. He had more Cliff/Shadows records than any other artist, in fact. The EP's alone, filled several large metal drawers, and as sad as it may be, the time has come now, to divide up and sell that collection - thus this very item is one of

GEORGE CROTTY'S HUGE PERSONAL COLLECTION,

...all of which will appear here over the next several months...Some of you who knew him or knew of him, would possibly be proud to own this and/or others of his collection, I imagine.

Anyway, you can guarantee he loved this - he was very particular with what he kept.
