Clear Light were overlooked as a major force in1967 due to the numerous other US acts reaching their
peak in pop music’s golden age. Their only album may be little known but is definitely worth seeking out.
Clear Light were contracted to the Elektra label and had Love and The Doors to compete with in terms of fame and record
sales. The album has obvious influences, chiefly from The Doors as it was produced by Doors producer Paul Rothchild,
but their own musicianship and distinctive style is clearly evident throughout the eleven album tracks.
Black Roses is a great opening track followed by Sand with its superb “London Calling” guitar riff years before the Clash!
Side two opens with the six plus minutes of Tom Paxtons Mr Blue, followed by four more sparkling group compositions.
A terrific forgotten `60s psych gem in rare stereo!
The record is in incredible condition, the vinyl as shiny as its day of issue. There are no scratches scuffs or any marks
whatsoever. Many would grade it Mint, but I am a cautious grader so its Mint Minus.
The orange and black design sixties Elektra labels are completely unmarked and are graded in superb
Mint condition.
The cover is equally fantastic with super sharp unworn corners, perfect edges and spine. The front and back covers are
laminated with no wear or marks. The group photos on the front and rear are in stunning bright unfaded colours. All spine
and cover text are as new! A near perfect sleeve. I have graded the cover at Mint Minus.
The record plays as good as it looks with perfect sound quality, no hiss or crackle anywhere, even between tracks. A
perfectly stunning mint playing album.
SIDE ONE : Black Roses, Sand, A Childs Smile, Street Singer, The Ballad of Freddie and Larry, With All In Mind
SIDE TWO : Mr Blue, Think Again, They Who Have Nothing, How Many Days Have Passed, Night Sounds Loud
The grading system used is from Record Collector:- Mint, Excellent, Very Good, with +/- to distinguish borderline grades.
All records are sent out with plastic covers in professional mailers and two protective stiffeners.
Please do not bid if you have significant negative feedback unless checking first.
