Description
Circus 2000: "An Escape From A Box" 1972, Italy/RiFi RDZ-ST-14215. Disc looks EX with a few light hairlines and scuffs, it appears to be barely played, but as there is some light noise at the beginning of each side I'll grade it VG+. Cover has creases and dings along the pocket and some dulling of the lamination, this is VG+. Has a rare printed RiFi clear poly inner sleeve. Incredibly rare second LP by this magnificent Italian psych band is way, way more druggy than their debut and has just five long tracks that get very freaky. Tons of flipped-out echoplex guitar and creepy vocals in English, the rhythm section is mindboggling, the songs totally hallucinatory. The cover imagery makes you gasp, once you realize just what it represents. This is one of those special albums... when you hold the cover in your hands and play the disc, you can't help but mourn the loss of the vinyl medium. People chatter on endlessly about the profound merging of art and sound that the first Velvet Underground album represented... well, this LP eclipses that one completely in my mind. Sitting down with this LP for the first time is an experience you will never forget. You think you know where they're going when you hear the opening cut, but then everything gets dosed with acid and you're suddenly on a trip you may never come back from.

If you were wondering what "box" the title refers to, those four lines will tell you. Now look again at the front cover art. It's the fate of all humanity, the loathing of our own mortality, and the only way we can escape it is in reverie. Some people use drugs to stay there as long as possible. Others like us, with stronger, braver minds, can do it with music. This band is tremendous. I like Italian records from the early 70s in general and I've had quite a few over the years, but the two Circus 2000 albums will never leave my collection.

I pack/ship once a week, usually on Friday. I use sturdy cardboard boxes designed for shipping records, and I remove the disc from the cover to prevent seam splits during shipment.
