THE CHUCK WAYNE QUINTET – PROGRESSIVE PLP 3003 – EX/EX – 10-INCH LP – MONO PLEASE DOUBLE CLICK ON THE PHOTOS ABOVE FOR A LARGER IMAGE This is Chuck Wayne’s first recording session of his own and there are two sessions on it on the same date April 13, 1953. The first session includes: Brew Moore (ts) Harvey Leonard (p) Chuck Wayne (g) George Duvivier (b) Ed Shaughnessy (d). They perform: S.S. COOL; MARY ANN and YOU BROUGHT A NEW KID OF LOVE TO ME. The second session has Zoot Sims replacing Brew Moore on tenor and the play: SIDEWALKS OF CUBA; PROSPECTING; TASTY PUDDING; WHILE MY LADY SLEEPS and BUTTERFINGERS. This is the original 10-inch LP release of this material and is a MONO recording. I’ve graded both the vinyl and the record jacket as EX for the following reasons. The vinyl has no marks of any kind on either side of the LP. There is no sign of wear in or around the spindle hole on either side of the LP. The reason for the EX rating is that there is some slight surface noise on the LP and it may well be due to the pressing. The quality of sound is not as good as other LPs, as Progressive Records was not a top quality record company. Please keep this in mind if you are interested. The record jacket just misses a M- grade but there are former sticker marks on the liner notes. There are no worn edges and the record jacket is clean on both sides.
