DETAILS :  1958 ~ CHESS LP 1432 ~ Original First Issue
High Fidelity (Mono) ~ Classic Second 12" LP

VINYL : VG+ : Thick, inflexible vinyl. Black and shiny. Several light marks on both sides. Minor surface noise, more so on Track One, Side One. Many light swirls. Played, but not abused.

COVER : VG+ : Spine and seams basically intact. Minor wear on top right and bottom left corners. Yellowing on back cover mostly along seams and spine. Minor shelf wear and ring wear. This extremely classic cover comes close to an EX grade.

INNER SLEEVE : White paper, die-cut sleeve.

LABELS : A few faint marks, otherwise very sharp. Original black labels.

BEAR'S NOTES : Here is another piece of Rock and Roll history, an actual first issue Mono copy of Chuck's second 12" with the original black Chess labels. A dozen classics including "Reelin' & Rockin'", "Oh Baby Doll", & "Rock & Roll Music".

A SIMPLE VINYL GRADING SYSTEM :

Mint (M): Still Sealed/Unplayed/Unopened/Holy Grail
Mint minus (M-): New and Possibly Unplayed ; a rarely used grade.
Near Mint (NM): Like-new, with little or no visible wear; very collectible.

Near Mint minus (NM-):
Almost like-new, with very slight signs of age, play or wear that are strictly cosmetic.

Excellent (EX) aka Very Good double-plus (VG++):
Way above average, no serious flaws; seldom spun, very clean, possible slight noise.

Very Good plus (VG+):
An above average used LP; a few visible surface marks/paper scuffs; minor surface noise.

Very Good (VG) :
An average used LP, far from perfect but not in bad shape; a few light scratches.
Possibly a bit noisy (inc. pops, clicks); plays through with no skips. Well-spun.

Very Good minus (VG-) :
Reveals lots of wear/noise when viewed or played but is not defective or warped.
 
Note : Lesser grades (Good, Fair, Poor) are rarely used in a bearswaxrecords listing.

LP Cover grading is a much less exact, even more subjective science. Generally, the truly collectible grades range from Mint to Excellent (but VG+ is fine). The grade depends on defects & wear. Main cover flaws such as split seams or spine splits, ring wear, cut or bent corners, hole punches, shelf wear, writing, water damage, discoloration etc. should always be mentioned in a proper auction listing. These factors or the lack thereof will combine to determine the overall grade. Your item will be packaged with tender loving care. Records are always removed from jackets for shipping & are securely packed in nice new inner sleeves & polysleeves & then packed inside thick cardboard album mailers along with stiff cardboard inserts & sheets of bubble wrap to help provide a safe delivery.

Records are always professionally sight-graded, occasionally play-graded. Please keep in mind that used LPs, especially those from the '50s & '60s, are very rarely found in actual Mint condition, seldom in true Near Mint. Proper record grading involves skill, knowledge & honesty, not wishful thinking. All grading is subjective. Play grading on request.
