CHRIS FARLOWE: 14 THINGS TO THINK ABOUT

1st pressing of this really beautiful British Blue Eyed Soul LP.

A fine and rare LP in any case but what makes this special is that the rear has a number of contemporaneous signatures acquired when the group visited Cardiff in 1967.

The signatures are nice and clean and include:

Chris Farlowe (Top and centre)

Dave Greenslade (Below the album name and next to the “THUNDERBRIDS”)

“Bugs” Waddell (Below Greenslade’s)

Albert Lee (Next to the Immediate address at the bottom)

As can be seen, although there is a little smudging to a couple of the signatures they are wholly readable and clean. The rear is similarly in fine condition with just some age related discolouration (see below for grading).

GRADING

SLEEVE: VG+

The sleeve is in nice clean condition. There are a few wrinkles to the white laminated front and a little discolouration but nothing noticeable. The edges are nice and sharp with just a little rub to the bottom left hand corner. The rear shows a little uniform yellowing and a few smudges but is, in the main, nice and clean.

RECORD: G+

The record shows some light scuff marks / hairlines. There are no feelable marks. The album sounds nice with just occasional light crackle audible well below the level of the music.

The above record grading is based on Record Collector magazine’s system:

Near Mint (NM) The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent (EX) The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

Very Good (VG) The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good (G) The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

Fair (F) The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.

Records are always removed from sleeves.
