Description
CHOCOLATE WATCH BAND: One Step Beyond (Tower ST 5153)
- Condition : Cover is EX, very slight wear, promo stamp on back. Vinyl is strictly graded VG+ to VG++; much of it looks and plays NM, but there are a fair number of scuffs, mainly in one area of side one- these are very light and really hard to see unless held under a bright light at an angle, but they are there. Also there is one light hairline scratch on last two cuts side one; I didn't hear anything on my setup but it's possible this may make some tics on certain decks, depending on your stylus, etc.
- Description : Rare 1969 stereo original of westcoast psych classic. White label DJ, small "Printed In USA" in circle at bottom left back cover corner, front slick is trimmed, back slick wraps around seams.
- Important points of comparison: This copy is a guaranteed original, not the late '70s repro. Obviously, this is a WLP and the repros used the orange labels. FYI, those old repros look a lot like an original; if you have a repro, here's how to tell: the cover images used for the repro were copied from an original like this one (i.e. trimmed front cover color slick, b&w back slick wraps around seams, the white area on the seams is part of the BACK slick), BUT the actual cover to the repro itself was fabricated the "other" way (BACK slick trimmed, FRONT slick wraps around seams) so that the white area visible at the seams is "attached to" / printed onto the part of the FRONT slick that wraps over the seams onto the edge of the BACK cover. In other words, repros appear to have a white border around the color front cover artwork and this white border is part of the front cover slick; originals usually have a color front slick trimmed to size and pasted onto the "wrapped" white edges of the back slick.
- Originals (like this one) exist as white label promos (I'm pretty certain there was no accurate repro done as a WLP, ever); originals also exist with trimmed back slick but on those originals the color area of the front cover artwork wraps over the seams at least somewhat at top and / or bottom instead of a "white border" effect; that variation is a regional pressing plant variation and is extremely rare.
- The repro vinyl has a question mark ("?") symbol in the dead wax, and somewhat funky label printing. Be VERY careful when purchasing a purported original of this LP. I once had a guy try to pawn off the repro vinyl to me in a fairly worn original cover (!) so be sure to examine both carefully!
- Remember, if you have a cover with white on all three seams the white must be part of the back slick that wraps over the seams, with the color front slick trimmed! If the white "border" is part of the front slick, you have a repro!
- Also, NO ORIGINALS ever had printing on the spine, ever!
- This info regarding repros applies only to the old late '70s repro that looks like an old record (thick cardboard cover and thick vinyl); any later repros were pretty obviously not made in the 1960s/70s (thin cover, etc) and should be discernible from an orig by an experienced collctor at a glance. For what it's worth, whoever made that early repro about 34 years ago was simply making a cheap reissue of the LP, rather than attempting to fool anyone; this album was worth maybe $15-$25 as a sealed orig at the time the repro was made!
- Buyer pays $7 for priority / delivery conf. shipment OR $3.75 for media mail / delivery conf. shipment in USA; foreign billed at approximate cost (see rates below). Combine multiple wins to save on shipping. PA residents must add 6% sales tax. NOTE: shipping to Mexico is the same cost as to Canada, and shipping to South America is the same cost as to Europe, generally. Ebay's lsting format does not let me break out South America separately from Mexico and Canada for shipping costs so it appears as though I don't ship there, but I do. I ship WORLDWIDE.
- GUARANTEE: Condition of this item is guraranteed to be as stated in the above description. Grading is strict and visual. All used LP's are cleaned on a Loricraft machine before grading. Sorry, I do not guarantee "musical content". If you are going to bid high on an unfamiliar album, consider first checking out the sounds online or via a reissue, etc in order to avoid potential disappointments. You cannot return a record simply because you don't like the music.
- Records are shipped in a cardboard record mailer with sufficient padding, and the disc is removed from the jacket to prevent seamsplits.
- I do not end auctions early. No offense, but if you ask, you will not receive a reply, sorry.
- Please do not ask me to email you with a list of every song on an LP. If you are looking for a specific song, inquire with the name of the song, I'll check ASAP to see if it's on the LP and reply promptly, but I don't have time to type out the names of every track, sorry to say. Also, sorry but requests from underbidders along the lines of "I didn't win, could you A) dub the record to CD for me B) ask the high bidder to dub the record to CD for me or C) give me the winner's email so I can ask" are ignored due to legal and privacy concerns.
- I have been selling records via mail order since 1989. Bid with confidence!
- ALL US shipments are sent with delivery confirmation included in the shipping cost. I will insure any package sent within the USA worth over $100 for no extra cost. OVERSEAS: the cheaper shipping option on your invoice (First Class Mail International) does not include insurance or tracking. With FCMI service, Registered Mail (includes tracking number and requires your signature upon delivery) is available for $10.80 extra per parcel; if you want Registered Mail added to your FCMI parcel, ask. The higher price option on your invoice (Priority Mail International) includes a tracking number and, to most countries, around $80 in insurance coverage, as part of the shipping cost. However, Registered Mail service is not available with Priority Mail International service.
