The second posthumous album from American rapper and actor Chino XL, who passed in July 2025, is an emotionally raw collection of tunes recorded between 2008 and 2012 and released on what would've been his 51st birthday. XL was noted for his lyrical complexity and intensity and his voice cuts through DJ Fokus' unconventional, moody production here with haunting clarity. From the hard-hitting 'Hard to Kill' to the vulnerable 'Not OK' and the poignant closer 'Map of Bones' in which he reflects on suicidal thoughts, the album feels eerily prophetic. While some may prefer the polish of earlier LP Darkness & Other Colors, this grittier record stands as a compelling finale to his story.
