CHESTER COKE & SOLID STATE ALLSTARS - African Race / Race (Solid State) - 7" - c1977
Original pressing of this highly sought-after Solid State 7" featuring Chester Coke's roots killer African Race (a cut to Trevor Byfield's Tell Me That You Love Me) backed by its dub. The vinyl retains a good sheen with light surface marks, some fine hairlines, and a few scratches (mainly on the B-side) - nothing too serious - see descriptions below. There is a small burn on the edge that affects the very outer couple of run-in grooves on each side, but this is well clear of the actual playing surface.
A-side: There is a smallish improving to very small amount of intermittent background surface noise with tiny, very small and some small pops and clicks. In addition, a shallow but prominent-looking 1cm scratch causes clicks during the first 30 seconds that range from very small to prominent, most being somewhere in between. Grade - VG-/VG improving gradually to VG+/EX-
B-side: There is a small / smallish improving to small amount of intermittent background surface noise with tiny, very small and small pops and clicks plus some more prominent ones caused by a few scratches. Grade - VG-/VG improving to VG/VG+ Labels: There are a couple of tiny scuffs and a biro mark on each label (see scan).*** More Roots, Dub and Dancehall 7" & 12" singles and LPs will be listed daily over the next few months ***
