Description
This is an auction for a rare LP by Champion Jack Dupree- From New Orleans To Chicago.
This was released on Decca Records in 1966 and has catalogue number LK4747. This is the 1st pressing with red and silver labels, a groove runs around the circumference of the label and the Decca lettering is in large letters (unboxed). This is the mono copy.

Condition: The sleeve has some mild discolouring, some of which will clean of the front laminated surface. There are a few small lamination creases and lastly very light buffing to the very corners. Spine and edges fine, no tears, bends or creases, lamination at mouth ex. Please check the pictures a very nice sleeve and graded at a strict VG.
This comes with its original patent inner sleeve that has a little yellowing (no tears).
Labels: Both labels are clean, under closer examination some spider spindle trails can be seen on each side, the centre hole shows little to no signs of wear with a little darkening to the very centre.
Vinyl- both sides retain there near new shine, when held under a strong light a few tiny feather scratches can be seen and some cleanable finger marks. I have play tested this record through both sides and was surprised to find that despite its appearance it actually played with a problem.
Side 1 has a quiet entry and goes on to play with very little lessening in sound quality. Nice quiet breaks, no fading, distortion or dragging but unfortunately at the very end of track 3 my needle jumped, this happens twice for two rotations of the record and once more at the very beginning of track 4.
So to clarify at the very end of track 3 It skips a few notes before rejoining the groove to skip again on the next rotation, on both occasions it only skips a few notes. The scratch stops thus there is a quiet break between tracks and then skips again after some five rotations of this track, again it only skips a few notes and only does this once on this track. Under a very strong light two tiny scratches can be seen, one is smaller in length than a grain of rice with the other being even smaller but these are obviously deep enough to cause the skips, .
Side 2 has the same quiet entry with then like side 1 this going on to play with very little lessening in sound quality. The music itself plays strong and clear with no fading, distortion or dragging heard whatsoever, breaks between tracks is immaculate. There is one audible pop at the beginning of track 3 a few other very quiet crackles heard only.
Grading this is somewhat unfair as the jump means I can only put this at Fair+, the fact is 98 percent of this record plays with very little lessening in sound quality and would infact be comfortably graded at VG+, I would of down-graded it from near mint because it has been played more than a few times.
Certainly better than a gap filler, possibly not for the purist.
