Description

On offer here is an extremely rare 1972 first UK pressing of 'Changes' by Catapilla, on Vertigo. While rarely coming up for sale, rarer still are copies boasting an intact diecut sleeve owing to their common tendency to tear. This copy boasts such a sleeve, with the LP itself in VG+/E condition.

Pressing Details:
Vertigo 6360 074
Matrix A: 6360074 1Y//1?420
Matrix B: 6360074 2Y//1?420

Sleeve condition:
The most significant element of sleeve condition is the intact diecut, with a previously sold copy featuring a wildy torn caterpiller graded VG+ on account of its mere presence. This copy is clearly much better, with the diecut remaining completely intact, though with one small chip to right hand side of right eye - see photo. Other minor issues are present, with spine wear being one, as illustrated in the photos provided. Corners exhibit some shelf wear. Small 'scribble' indents to lower right of front cover where someone has evidently tested a pen on a piece of paper placed over the sleeve at some point in its history, but hard to see if you're not looking for them. Slight creasing to rear upper right corner following the line of the LP, but not detracting much overall. Small number of finger smudges on reverse which will clean up no problem - i'd usually do this myself but with a record of this rarity i'd rather leave the choice of cleaning method to the buyer. Within the gatefold, on right-hand panel there are two small spots of loss to surface, shown in photographs provided. There is also a faint vertical line which looks more like a manufaturing issue than any subsequent marking, but is described and depicted for clarity. Overall, most significant points of note would be the intact diecut, worn spine and shelf wear to corners.

Record condition:
Record is in VG+/E condition. Side B is VG+ with one light hairline approx. 3cm in length and one small scuff. Spindle trail across label and around centre, visible under light. Side A is excellent with no faults.

Inner Sleeve:
The original inner sleeve is not present - generic CBS sleeve has been substituted at some point in the past. Not difficult to accurately replace.

I have uploaded the maximum 12 photos permitted by ebay but have many more on hand - please do feel absolutely free to request any additional images which you may require! Please bear in mind that I am not a record dealer, just a collector - I hold familiarity, not expertise, so am very open to all buyer questions. Furthermore, I am sure that those interested in this LP will know more about the details than I do.

As an example with a torn caterpiller sold for 1200 on ebay recently (see completed listings) I have priced this one around the Discogs median selling price in spite of it being a much better than average copy. However, I am open to reasonable offers given that this is a reluctant sale owing to bills.

Postage: Postage in the UK will be by Royal Mail Special Delivery. International postage will be by ebay's Global Shipping Programme owing to the liability, tracking and insurance of items sent through it. The record will be over-packaged to ensure its safe arrival.

Good luck!
