Description
This is a special offer for all 78´s and Jazz-Collectors:
a massive metal mother pressing of
"CHINA GIRL", played by the CASA LOMA ORCHESTRA and recorded in New York on Feb. 11th, 1930 !!!
A mother is the first (!) playable copy, after the wax matrix was made. From the mother the next copy (called the "son") was made to produce the final shellac recordings. Only with the mother it could be checked, if the recording quality was OK and if the record could go into commercial production.
These mother pressings were never made for public issues, but only for the use of the record companies to made further shellacs.
Because this record comes with it´s original sleeve it can be easily discovered, that this mother was used to produce the english PARLOPHONE-78rpm-records of this title with the catalog-no: R 1033 - those records are extremely rare and such an offer appears only once in a couple of years !!
This is the seldom opportunity to buy such a masterpiece of Jazz-history in it´s original shape. The quality of the sound is unbelievable and absolutely terrific !!! Please keep in mind, that the center hole is a little bit smaller than usual at 78s - (so you should use a turntable, where you can remove the spindle (or you should wide the center hole carefully). The mother is a PLAYABLE copy and not a negative - so on this record the real stuff is listenable !!!!
The condition is extraordinary, because the record was kept for more than 70 years in it´s original cardboard-cover. It consists of a heavy massive cupper plate (see the photo of the reverse side !) and has a shiny nickel-surface. No noisy material was used (everything is pure metal) and so the sound is overwhelming.
Note, that the matrix.no. is also visible at the outer rim (which would not appear at the shellac pressings) !!
