The original manuscript of The Carmina Burana reached the Court Library of Munich in 1803 after the secularisation of the Bavarian monasteries. The first publisher, J.A.Schmeller, gave them the title of Carmina Burana because this was the name of the monastery in which they were found, (Poems of Benediktbeuern). However, the manuscript was certainly not writen there; the most recent research dates it early 13th century, from the Tyrol, or even more likely in Carynthie (at Maria Saal?).
Grading
- Mint : This is a sealed record .Brand new or perhaps played a few times; no visual or audible signs of having been played
- Near Mint: Clean but opened. Plays almost as new. Very faint visual signs of having been played, such as faint paper scuffs. Records in this grade play almost M and should satisfy even the most discriminating collector
- Excellent : Obviously played several times. Few silent scuffs or paper scratches are likely; a few faint odd ticks or pops may occur but grooves are generally unworn.
- Excellent minus : A few more hairline and light marks still. May be some faint background noise in places.
- Very Good: Played many times; surface noise will often be present and light deterioration in sound quality. Some war or small scratches but playeble.
