Description
Welcome! Here is a first UK press of Can Future Days (United Artists UAS 29505). This “ambient” 1974 Can album was the last to feature vocalist Kenji ‘Damo’ Suzuki.
Matrix numbers and mother/stamper codes are:
Side 1: UAS 29505 A-1 1M.
Side 2: UAS 29505 B-1 1H.
Using the Record Collector grading system, what do we have here?
Sleeve: The unlaminated single sleeve grades Excellent, with only minor, general surface and corner wear. The sleeve is signed “ST/ST/74 Printed in England by Robert Stace.”
Vinyl: The vinyl grades Mint-. There are hardly any hairlines, and the record plays beautifully! I really do not believe that you could upgrade this vinyl.
Labels: The UA labels are strong, with average spindle tracking on both labels. On the Side 2 label, the very top was nipped off at production. There is an odd spot in the logo, near the right side, also originating during manufacture. Lastly, note that the side-long Side 2 track is identified as “Spare a Light;” it is (correctly) identified as “Bel Air” on the cover.
Inner Sleeve: This album has what I assume is its original UK UA inner sleeve; I have never seen one of these before. Except for typical age toning and a couple of wrinkles, it is in excellent condition. There are no splits or wear whatsoever.
And, in the end: Except for the very minor sleeve wears, this is a terrific example of Can “Future Days.” I am sure you will be pleased! Please e-mail me with any questions.
