I’m whittling down my vinyl album collection to 100 essentials as I enter my autumn years. I’m not sure how old this one is, but I know I’ve had it for at least 20 years.
One side of this 12-inch, 33 1/3 disc has a short interview with Bruce in which he explains how he got the moniker “The Boss” followed by Bruce telling a story in concert about how he and Little Steven first encountered Clarence Clemons. The Big Man performs a short sweet sax solo during the tale. The second side includes another short interview with Bruce in which he’s telling how he and the band planned to vandalize a huge billboard of him on Sunset Boulevard in L.A. followed by a different concert telling by Bruce with a different take on his meeting with Clemons. No sax solo on this one. Each side is about 10 minutes long.
The first side of this disc has moderate surface noise and the second side has moderate surface noise during the interview but more substantial surface noise during the concert part, which leads me to believe the noise is from the original source and not the record itself. Don’t know for sure though.
