Description
Here is a mono / stereo white label promo USA pressing of Bruce Springsteen's 2nd single from 1973. These early Bruce 45s are scarce because he was not a big star yet so not a lot were pressed, not a lot were sold, and not a lot were saved at the time. What makes this particular copy very rare and perhaps unique is that the mono side incorrectly has the label for Nicky Hopkins "Speed On" which is five catalog numbers higher so was probably being pressed at the same time at the Columbia Terre Haute plant where this record came from. That side of the record itself is correctly pressed (158393-1D / 158394-1D stampers) and correctly plays the mono version of the Springsteen song. Very hard-to-find item for the Bruce completist, probably more rare than a stock color label pressing of this record which would easily sell for four figures.
Vinyl is conservatively VG+, fully glossy with just a few faint marks here and there. Plays great. Any little white spots in the pictures are just dust reflecting light. The correct stereo side label has an "S" written in black marker pen. The error mono label has the word "NO" written in faded marker pen. The Columbia label sleeve is in top condition, virtually NM, but I'll be conservative and knock it down to VG+ . Please see all pics for best visual description of the condition.
I have been dealing in records for 25+ years. All records are sent in new Bags Unlimited brand mailers, properly packed with the vinyl outside the cover to avoid seam splits in transit.
