TITLE:
BRUCE JOHNSON & RODNEY JONES "THE LIBERATION OF THE CONTEMPORARY JAZZ GUITAR" STRATA - EAST RECORDS SES 1977 2 STEREO LP NM / VG++
DESCRIPTION AND CONDITION:
Released in 1977, these tracks are performed on guitar and bass by these two jazz artists. The liner notes list them as both playing guitar, but Bruce Johnson is a bass player and that is what he is playing, though he plays it more like a guitar on this record. There is no rhythm section. I believe these guys were working with Chico Hamilton and Dizzy Gillespie around this time. The sounds on this record are much freer and experimental than those of their employers. Not for traditionalists or the faint of heart.See pictures for track listing and liner notes.
The vinyl is very glossy with virtually no signs of wear. The record plays with excellent clarity. It has been thoroughly play tested and visually inspected.
The cover has no splits, tears, or markings. The corners show a little bit of wear. NM / VG++
