McGee was devastated by the death of his long time mentor and friend Blind Boy Fuller in 1941, precipitating Okeh to issue some of McGhee's early efforts under the the nick name of Blind Boy Fuller No. 2. Brownie had a difficult time getting back to recording but did cut a moving tribute song, "Death of Blind Boy Fuller," shortly after the passing. In a marathon session in 1941 OKeh paired him for the very first time on shellac with whooping harpist Sonny Terry for "Workingman's Blues",making this not only a very special blues release but certainly part of blues history.
Labels as seen in photos have some general wear. The vinyl remains very pristine with little light wear that allows for excellent play. This is a beautiful collector and an amazing piece of blues history.
