Or maybe you don't so I'll tell you a story...

The controversial at the time Boy Sets Fire / Jazz Man's Needle split 12" on Conquer The World Records thats me if you didn't know...

It was my descision to sign this band after being introduced to them through a demo tape that I got from Jay Palumbo (Empathy, Elliot, By The Grace of God) whom I was living with at the time. Sitting on the porch of the Hamtramck house one day I called them and asked them to send me my own copy. They did, I liked it and heard potential and originality that bands hadn't done before in hardcore. That being the singing and screaming, but actually singing with melody and correct notes and tonality. I thought it was original. So I asked them if they wanted to book a show at my house after I had opened communications with them and up to this point nobody really cared about them at all and they had no label interest at all. We decided to do this record as a split with a band called Jazz Man's Needle from PA which had sent me a demo as well and it piqued my ear as something cool and innovative. This was also an opportunity for my friends in Empathy Graham, Mike D and Nathan Miller to start a label. The truth was CTW *I* was pretty poor at the time because I had just put out all these records that summer but with the help of those guys we did a split label release and they started their little Cascade label. I think I had BSF over to play the house 2 times before we did the record or maybe after the record came out they came back through.

We took apart extra record covers and silk screened the covers on thanks to James Marks and Phil Rizzi whom were my roomates who used Silkscreen equipment I bought for shirts to make these covers. It was DIY because of money but also because I thought it fit the band well or we all did, the bands and I.

Once the issue with the records going out of print because of the band not paying me I didn't press it anymore. At one time the last press was 100 copies because that was all I could afford at the time come to remember it and the band was getting mad at me thinking the whole time the record was pressed in the thousands and thinking I was ripping them off. The whole idea was absurd. The band publicly attacked me countless times once in fact even at a big Krazy Fest show which brought me to tears as I remember sitting outside in the back parking lot by myself crying in solitude.

If it wasn't for me this band might not of got to where they did and achived what they did and I got absolutely nothing for it even as they got big slowly and eventually sold over 500k records on a major label subsidary. Even at the start Andy Rich of Initial records didn't care or hear about them at all until I cared and my ear connected to my brain to support something striving for creativity.

Ironically as it is they just reformed and are touring Europe I think as we speak in 2011 while I sell the last copies of any and all records I put out including my prized test pressings. I'm faced with eviction from my apartment so the least you can do is pick this up and bid high for I was the godfather of this shit.

This is a TEST pressing as a reference copy before the record was even put to any kinds of mass production. THIS is the LAST test pressing and I was surprised to even find this one, surprised to even find 1 or 2 black copies of the record it has been the holy grail to record collectors.

This Crying, This Screaming, My Voice Is Being Born is the first EP by Delaware band Boysetsfire. Thats what the wikipedia says, however it doesn't tell you that when you give a band copies to sell as royalites also known as band copies the copies the label gives you after the band copies when sold cost money. Hence the band never paid me the $200 they owed me for records so we had a falling out. It was that simple and the band loved to blow things out of proportion just to sell records and get their name out there.

Some people have asked about record gradings. If you want me to look specifically and describe it for you thats fine but this rule should be in effect generally..
