Released the same time as the Rainbow Deluxe Box Set, this standard issue LP was not limited even though the total amount pressed is unknown. This edition officially sold out in January 2013.
Every element of Rainbow is a collaboration between guitarist Michio Kurihara (YBO2, White Heaven, Hazama, Ghost, The Stars, Damon & Naomi) and Boris. The lyrics sheet provided here is in Japanese even though the cover art and track listing is predominantly in Portuguese and printed on transparent paper. The use of abstract photos, pressed metallic foil text all match the dreamy atmosphere of the Pedal Records CD version - Inoxia have even adapted and used the stamp that (hergre) seals the sleeve shut where as it was for the booklet for the Pedal version.
Much of the album's inspiration, including the use of Portuguese comes from the 70s Argentinian band Arco Iris...
Atsuo: "The meaning of Arco Iris is Rainbow (in Spanish) and Arco Iris had a big influence on me. I was very much influenced in terms of the music and the psychedelic atmosphere. That's why I changed the language to Portuguese."
The vinyl is black for this edition and only one pressing was ever made.
Released through Inoxia, this was the fifth Boris release for the label (of Inoxia's total of seven at the time). The head of Inoxia is Enju Tanahashi and she was also Boris's manager from the 90s through to 2008. The band continue to work with and release through Inoxia to this day.
