Description
For your consideration, dears, this first album by Mr. Bobby Byrd, 'I Need Help-Live on Stage', which was released in 1970 on the King Records label. There's a logo on the back of this album cover which reads 'A James Brown Production-The Sound of Success', and it was distributed by Starday-Kind Records, Inc.

Bobby was raised by a church-going family in Toccoa, Georgia and the back of this album cover says it was there in the front room of the Byrds' home that Bobby started singing and rehearsing with local kids Bobby Bennett, Johnny Terry and James Brown, and that's how James Brown and the Famous Flames began. (Wikipedia tells the story of Bobby and James' meeting differently saying they met when a baseball team Bobby was on was playing the Alto Reformatory Prison team that James was on while he was incarcerated on armed robbery charges; and while details like this are interesting to know, it really doesn't matter to me WHERE they met...it doesn't change how soulful and moving Mr. Byrd's music is).
This album cover is still in the original wrap but it HAS been opened. The only real flaws I can tell that are on the cover are on the top and bottom of the right side of the front; there's an app. 1/2" separation in each of these corners. Otherwise, the color on this cover looks GREAT and there should not be any scuffs or dings on the cover itself-as I said, it's still mostly covered by the original shrinkwrap!!
The vinyl is beautiful-I see only the very slightest of scuffing on it and it sounds GREAT!! (I've just finished listening to the entire thing-it does have a little bit of surface noise but NO skips at all!!).
