Description
Bob Marley's is the one name most associated with reggae worldwide, though the original Wailin' Wailers was a more-or-less equal partnership between him, Peter Tosh, and Bunny Wailer. However, Bob Marley was obviously a man on a mission and would soon become the torch bearer for the tranformational magical power found at the core of reggae music.
The album 'Kaya' was released in 1978 on Island records (ILPS - 9517) and I consider it Marley's last great record before his untimely death at 36 three years later. It has a more mellow and even-tempered pace. The stand out songs are "Easy Skanking", "Is This Love", "Kaya", and "Satisfy My Soul"....a timeless album.
This white label (numbered) promo Japanese copy is the best pressing I've heard for this album. Barely any surface noise, perfectly equalized; tight bass and crystal-clear vocals....truly stunning audio.
Cover: Near Mint- .....all 4 corners are sharp....a very solidly constructed jacket with vivid colors. Some minor foxing to front and back. No Obi.
Double-Sided Lyric Insert: Near Mint
Record: Near Mint-....wonderful gloss to both sides...hardly a blemish to be seen. Visually, track #3 to both sides have an area of imperfection, but upon playback did not interfere with the audio in any significant way.
Both labels are clean and white as the day they were made. This is a Japanese numbered promo edition. As can be seen from the photos I've uploaded, this one is number #4/20. Again, the audio is sensational and as good as it will get on this clasic Marley release.
