This album is VERY rare.
Purchased in the summer of 1973 in Kingston, Jamaica, just after it had been released worldwide, it is in US packaging (quotes Capitol records on the reverse), but the vinyl appears to be manufactured in Jamaica - see graphics on the label and misalignment of the label paper. Although Tuff Gong had been going a while (as a record store and 7" singles label?), this was the first LP released on the label, hence the catalogue number - TG001! I can't find any current reference to this catalogue number and all Tuff Gong products and literature nowadays carry a completely different logo.
The cover is different from the UK-released Island version because it does not feature mock vinyl in the graphic behind the zippo lighter. See other examples available on ebay.co.uk. This makes the cover even more difficult to use than the Island version, since the vinyl is almost impossible to insert without catching it in the lighter cutout. For this reason I transferred the vinyl as soon as I got it home to an alternative sleeve. (Actually it was "The Thoughts of Emerlist Davjack" by The Nice, which didn't seem to have anything in the sleeve for some reason.)
One careful owner, the original sleeve has been kept with other albums ever since, so it shows some signs of wear and tear, but the hinge is the original and still works.
Code on the run out is 1-9329-F-6 (side 1); 2-9329-F-3 (side 2). The US catalogue number was/is SW9329. The LP has a slight warp noticeable on the first track both sides, but still plays. The album has always been played only on good equipment and is therefore in good condition, consistent with being over 30 years old.
Good home wanted for a very special document of Bob, Jamaica, reggae and my student years.
