Up for auction is an INSANELY rare CLEAR vinyl pressing of Bob Marley's 'Catch A Fire' LP. This is an original 1973 pressing, indicated by the STAMPED (not etched) Island matrix numbers. Side A has the matrix number ILPS 9241 A - 4U.  Side B has a STERLING stamp in the dead wax, as well as the crossed out matrix number 'BML-2001B 4-U' which is only found on the first Island pressings!!

The clear vinyl has some black wisps which gives a cool smokey effect.  The record itself is in VG++ condition with minimal signs of wear. It plays with some light surface noise, but no skips. There are also several small pressing bubbles that do not affect playback.  The jacket has some light shelfwear to the bottom and top seams as well as some light creasing, but shows no signs of splitting, fraying, or discoloration.
To our knowledge this clear vinyl copy is the only one of its kind, as no other legitimate clear or colored vinyl pressing of this album has ever turned up for sale. Who knows if another copy of this will ever turn up for sale, or is another one even exists!!

Regarding the date of this pressing:

We are aware of the early 80's colored vinyl pressings of 'Survival', but we DO NOT believe this to be from that time period. The center labels on those pressings feature the updated Tuff Gong design and logo which is NOT present on this LP.

 We have dated this LP to be from some time between 1976 - 1977, before the updated Tuff Gong labels and right around the time of the stock black vinyl pressing of this release from 1976 (which has the EXACT same center labels and jacket design). Both the center labels and jacket have the '56 Hope Rd' address, also note that the back cover makes no mention of 'Manufactured and distributed by EMI Ltd.' at the bottom of the sleeve (which is present on later jackets).

While the exact dates are up for debate, the clear vinyl pressing of 'Exodus' seems to be from 1977 and is the closest thing to this clear vinyl copy of 'Catch A Fire'. We also believe there is a possibility of this copy being one of the first runs of the clear vinyl pressing as the black vinyl wisps are most likely left-overs from what was being manufactured immediately before this was pressed.
