If you collect the very rarest of Bob Dylan vinyl this special CBS Pitman Family of Music employee-only gift album is one of the most desirable and hardest to find limited edition promotional recordings that is sought after by collectors today.
To fully appreciate the scarcity of this investment-grade album we suggest that some serious investigation is in order. We found several sources of good information by doing a Google search of: “Bob Dylan CBS pitman family of music” and suggest that you do the same.
According to the people at http://www.lostintheflood.priv.at/lp/lp-va_samplers.htm this “US-only release [was] pressed in limited quantities of 200 copies and given out exclusively to employees of Columbia’s Pitman, New Jersey pressing plant. Color picture sleeve including a 16-page booklet; picture labels on disc”. Interestingly, this album has one of the earliest Bruce Springsteen recordings as well- check it out.
This original album is in excellent visual condition and looks unplayed and the cover is also in exceptional shape with no real problems for a recording of this scarcity. The book that originally came with the album is also basically in pristine condition and has no rips, tears or major folds. It has letters from the president of CBS, an excellent article on the history of CBS records and a nice timeline of the history of the Pitman, New Jersey record plant.
This is an excellent and verifiable rare piece of American music history. Good luck!
