Original 1st US Mono pressing pre-release promotional copy of Bob Dylan’s debut studio album released on Columbia Records on March 19, 1962. This promotional Columbia Records copy was sent to the media and radio stations several months before the album’s release date. 1st print Modern Album Inc. cover with the “8” number in the lower right-hand corner of the back cover and “Produced by John Hammond” under the “Bob Dylan” banner at the center top. Original promotional cover with the Columbia Records’ “DEMONSTRATION NOT FOR SALE”" red rubber ink stamp. The front cover, right next to the “© Columbia Records 1962” credit, contains a silver-foil “A NEW STAR ON COLUMBIA RECORDS” hype sticker which can be found only on the 1st pressing copies of this album, demonstration and commercial. 1st print Columbia Records 6-eye CL 1779 2.75” pressing ring red commercial labels have a white “For Demonstration Use Only Not For Sale” sticker on Side 2. 1st pressing vinyl with the very early matrix numbers: Side 1 - XLP-55619-1C 1H; Side 2 - XLP-55620-1D 1H. The album comes with the original Columbia Records inner sleeve containing the other Columbia releases.

The cover is graded as Excellent and would be Near Mint Minus if it wasn't due to some very light scuffing on the spine and edges. It's super clean and doesn't have any ring wear, splits, writing, soiling or any sort of residue. The spine contains a fully readable text. I grade the vinyl as Excellent Minus for Side 1 and Very Good Plus for Side 2. The vinyl contains only few very light non-feelable surface hairlines as well as scuffs from the inner sleeve, which is in Near Mint Minus condition and doesn't have any splits or tears. The shiny labels in Excellent condition are scuff- and wear-free, only having a few very light spindle marks that could be seen under a strong light source. The vinyl plays great only having some very light occasional static that most likely will get reduced or go away if the record is professionally cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine.
