Here's a smoker! RPM 347, The Howling Wolf doing "My Baby Stole Off" and "I Want Your Picture." These sides are from one of Wolf's earliest sessions, 2 October 1951, three years before he moved to Chicago. Recorded in West Memphis, away from the watchful eye of Sam Phillips, for whom he was supposed to be recording at the time. Wolf's hot band includes Ike Turner on piano, Willie Johnson on guitar and Willie Steel on drums. Record is graded VG+ with a few scuffs, plays great with thunderous sound. Labels have a bit of rubbing to the silver (mostly on "My Baby Stole Off"), but they still look nice.
