He was an American DJ based in New York, New Jersey and Virginia. In his early teens he became enamored with Bluegrass music and publicized and promoted  that genre in many ways. He ended up writing liner notes for around a hundred recordings and received the International Blugrass Music Associations award for doing so. He also compiled the country music chart for Bilboard Magazine.  He MC'd at many a Bluegrass  Festival including Bill Monroe's  Bean Blossum Festival in Indiana and Festivals of Ralph Stanley and Carlton Henry. He served as editor for Mulesskinner News writing many articles on early Bluegrass performers. In 2004 he was inducted in the International Bluegrass Music Museum's Hall of Fame.

He died on November 20th, 1996 in Rocky Mount.
