Description

A genuinely rare, highly unusual holiday collector's item: an original 1984 U.S. White Label Promotional Pressing of the Blue Christmas compilation on the Welk Music Group label. This record was manufactured exclusively as an industry radio station sampler and was never made available for commercial retail sale. It tracks sixteen different artists performing versions of the holiday classic "Blue Christmas" alongside rare bonus cuts.

  • Vinyl Condition: Very Good Plus (VG+). Clean, monochrome white promotional labels featuring the text "PROMOTIONAL COPY - NOT FOR SALE". Retains strong factory gloss.
  • Jacket Condition: Very Good Plus (VG+). Structural layout remains flat and square. No retail barcode, as intended for this promotional-only distribution.
  • Deadwax / Matrix Identifiers:
    • Side A (etched): WM-3002-A
    • Side B (etched): m w-3002-B (Features the authentic factory "mw" inverted letter typo)
Distributed in Winter 1984 directly from the song's publishing rights company (Welk Music), this album was a targeted marketing tool designed to hit AM/FM radio stations just before December programming locked in.
  • The White Label Advantage: Because these were pressed in limited numbers strictly for radio station pools, they were sourced from the earliest metal mother stampers, ensuring crisp analog playback fidelity across the entire tracklist.
  • The Ultimate "Blue Christmas" Document: This compilation is a dream for holiday music completists, gathering variations of the song across multiple genres and styles on a single piece of vinyl. Includes Lawrence Welk's own recording among the various appearing artists.
