Media Grade:  NM (very nice copy, the lightest dust, *the original Weird World are on the more lo-fi by nature*, peep the soundclips!)  
Sleeve Grade:  NM (still in original shrink, sharp copy, see photos!) 
Year / Label / Catalogue #:   1973  /  Weird World  /  WW-2025 (1st Press, "rounded 3 in 1973 on labels, indicating true 1st press", Stereo)
Brief Comments: The true certified original 1973 pressing, like most of his early Weird World releases, very scarce (somewhat lo-fi pressings, sold to Stag Shops, Head Shops, "under the counter" at some indie record stores not in counties where Vice Laws where then actively enforced, yeah it's weird to think, but no joke), featuring musical background by The Kinfolks (maybe best known for their grail level 1972 Cat 45 with "The Fly" also Clarence Reid produced), especially prominent at the ends of each side, A-side has "Butterfly Theme" deep funk instrumental, also you hear snatches, portions of instrumental funk that would end up becoming full tracks for Miami's "Party Freaks" 1974 lp (also Clarence Reid produced!).
Clarence Reid, a.k.a. "Blowfly" got his start singing X-rated parodies for cash, he was also a bonafide songwriter, with Florida local label 45's going back to 1963. His debut T.K. umbrella album on ATCO (Alston Series) is dope soul/funk, same with the one on Tay-Ster, and later Reid releases on ATCO, and Alston. He was among the first performers, under his Blowfly persona, to perform in a mask, and Costume (his influence on Hip-Hop, as seen in the documentary is huge, everyone from Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, MF Doom, Slick Rick, Big Daddy Kane, 2 Live Crew, among others, not to mention his 1980 single 12" "Blowfly Rapp" has been cited as the early roots of G-Funk, I would have to agree on that!). 
As rare as his early releases tend to be, most of them had three pressings, one with orange labels, one with blue labels, one with yellow labels, and sometimes green labels. (There's 3 different OG press runs for his debut "Weird World Of Blowfly", likewise 3 for his classic "Blow Fly On T.V.", and 2 for "Blowfly Zodiac"). His most pressed up album, they did on just yellow labels was "Blow Fly At The Movies", his most successful album to date, right before this one, it's why if you look hard in the Comedy Section in many large cities, you actually tend to find them..... 
Narration is provided throughout by legendary Florida DJ "Milton "Butterball" Smith", in fact his track "Oddballs", on the only early Weird World 45, from 1973, has been comp'd by Dante Carfagna, played in Josh Davis, Cut Chemist sets..... 
Personally like many beat diggers I'm inclined to "Blow Fly On T.V.", for the Sesame Street UBB track, but I'm happy with my "Big Bird & The Blowers" copy on Magic Carpet, that everyone uses, because it's better drum break quality recording.....
I think Butterfly, is one of his best as a full album (NSFW, explicit content that would have Redd Foxx blushing! But Blowfly is a real entertainer, he does great song parodies, including Bob Marley on this one, among others, and many story XXX jokes, that are hilarious, say "Beep" and "Beep Beep" as a sequence 3 times in a row....haha), Besides his first lp, it's his only "non-concept" album, the rest focusing on say TV, Movies, Zodiac Signs, Oldies, Disco, etc..... To be fair, his "on tour" lp is also non-concept, and has by far the most raunchy, please someone protect Karen Carpenter's sweet innocent ears, - but I think she would have laughed, been cool, unlike Dick Carpenter.... of "We've Only Just Begun".
Back to Butterfly! So by far the most comp'd track of Blow Fly is "Sesame Street", for the drums, but "Butterfly Theme" shows up on two important comp's, the first being the French only 1992 "Essential Funk Vol. 2" Rare Groove loaded CD, and then on Jazzman Gerald / Malcolm Catto's "Florida Funk" compilation. You can only find "Butterfly Theme" as it's been titled after the fact, on this Blowfly lp (end of Side-A), there's no 45, The Kinfolks "The Fly" has certain riffs, but is basically a separate tune, portions are heard on this lp, on Side 2....
Only true OG 1st press I've ever seen (I've seen a few times, had once Blow Fly On T.V. until I got the Big Bird Blowers 45, seen plenty of Zodiac, and At The Movies, both cool), the only tougher pull is the first "Weird World Of Blow Fly", I've seen one on a wall, and one at a record convention.

For our record grading, we stand by the merits outlined in the scale below, anything VG or below will have a detailed explanation in brackets next to the grade.
For sleeves, we will mention anytime there is split, or defect not visible in the photos in brackets next to the grade, otherwise we refer to the photos for the merit of the grade. Of course any questions, concerns, are always welcome :) 
Our media grading scale is as follows: [*Quick note, our VPI is still in storage on the other side of the US, we do brush clean many  items carefully, but we have to prioritize, we won't leave anyone stranded with a filthy record, only "filthy" good! We don't factor dust particles into the grading]
NM = Essentially a pristine album, like new, rarely used.
EX = Under bright light if there is any scuffs or mark, which will be inaudible, most collectors and sellers would tend to consider it closer to NM, EX is also the grade others might call VG++ under the same level of conservative scrutiny.
VG+ = More then a small handful of scuffs, light marks, nothing feelable, will have high-gloss, a thoroughly enjoyable copy that may only have tiny moments of barely perceptible surface noise overpowered by the music. Our VG+ will satisfy the vast majority of collectors as a nice keeper copy, as collector's ourselves for nearly two decades, this grade is aimed to be a great keeper. Note if say the record has a light DNAP warp, but otherwise is NM, we will automatically put it to VG+ and detail that. Another scenario is if a copy plays at a solid EX, but visually is VG, the composite grade will be VG+, and detailed as such.
VG = More hairlines, more marks, maybe a few visible scratches, no more then two feelable scratches (which automatically lowers to VG-), there likely will be surface noise, but will play through, still being an enjoyable copy, the audio quality will satisfy most collector's (the golden rule: if it doesn't satisfy us, it won't be VG), if a record is otherwise EX, but has a slight momentary skip, where 99% of the record is EX, we will note that, and put it at VG. Usually will retain a nice gloss.
VG- = More Scratches than VG, surface noise will jump out more, it be overpowered for longer stretches, or compete with the music in places, it will likely play all the way through on most turntables, a copy that you can still get a decent play enjoyment from.
G+ = Lots of scratches, deeper ones, surface noise now mostly overpowers or competes with the music. It may skip in some places. We don't tend to sell G+ copies, unless the rarity is so great, and that will be precisely detailed.
Thrashed = Pretty much a "Theoretical Grade" for us, it be for all intents & purposes virtually unplayable, it would be for display purposes, or perhaps if you needed the cover but not the record. It's "theoretical" because so far we haven't sold or identified anything intended to sell at this bottom level.

We have it set to 5 day shipping / handling time, as a just in case, typically about 98.7% of our orders are shipped out the day of payment (first day the post office is open), with the vast majority being the second day. We'll message on the extraordinary off-chance if doesn't go out on Tuesday (our auctions mostly ending on Saturdays, Sundays), with the reason and day it will go out, so far that's only happened once on a giant order, and all was well.
