Black Sabbath Paranoid 1970 UK Vertigo 1st Pressing, Vinyl 12" 'Big Bear' Credit
This has been in my own collection since the 1970s and has been stored well for over 50 years. The very rare 'Big Bear' gatefold sleeve, the Vertigo swirl inner sleeve and the labels are in very good condition for their age and there is no writing, stickers, tears or rips. I have looked at other examples for sale and this looks to be one of the best. There is a shallow scratch on the front cover, some shelf wear, especially at the edges and corners and ring wear on the back, as you would expect for it's age. But there is nothing serious - please see my photos for details as they form part of the description - I have tried to highlight any faults.
The vinyl itself has been played many times so there are hairline marks and there is some surface noise during quiet periods and in the dead wax but I never listened to it to enjoy the quiet parts! It would benefit from being cleaned and it may be possible to remove some of the surface noise (it has picked up dust when I took the photos but I don't want to risk causing damage by amateur cleaning).
I am not experienced at selling vinyl so I am guessing that overall it should be listed as Very Good or maybe Good Plus. Most of it sounds as good as ever but there are some faults so I will list these.
There is one scratch early on side A (see picture) which you can feel and that produces the fault early in War Pigs - see below
War Pigs - the scratch produces a series of up to 10 clicks, lasting about 10 seconds, just before the vocals start. Paranoid - there is one loud click just before the start but then the track runs very well Planet Caravan - some general surface noise and small clicks during the quieter parts Iron Man - One loud click in the dead wax before it starts and a slight click just after it starts but then it runs very well.
Electric Funeral - one click early on and then the worst fault on the whole record is a double skip at around 3mins 45secs Hand of Doom - this generally plays very well with just a few crackles during the quiet sections. Rat Salad - plays very well with just one pop at around 14mins. Faeries Wear Boots - again plays well with just a loud pop in the dead wax at the beginning.
I have made a digital recording of the album so can confirm it's condition. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask and I'll do my best to answer.
