Description
This is a French Polydor release from 1984 on the Verve label. The sessions were recorded in New York 1952 through 1959, the last one recorded 4 months before she died. The session players, of course, are the best in the industry - Red Callendar, Barney Kessell, Wille Smith, Ray Brown, Chico Hamilton, Milt Hinton, Hank Jones, Ben Webster, Jimmy Rowles and more. The liner notes are somewhat fluffy and offer no real insight into the sessions themselves. Perhaps someone out there has more information? If so please email and we will share in the listing.
Condition notes:
Three LPs in NM condition - this set is from our personal collection - it has been played twice at most.
The box itself is in VG+ condition except for a small seam split on the bottom of the back of the box itself, lower right corner of box is slightly creased. No visible shelf wear.
The liner notes are a 2-page booklet in French and English. The front of the booklet has some staining which shows up as small spots (see picture), otherwise OK.
